The company says it intends to produce EREVs first to match that preference, with the Traveler SUV equipped with Harvester named as the first planned configuration. That is a meaningful signal about Scout’s launch strategy—but reservations are not completed sales, and the figure does not show how the wider vehicle market feels.
What Scout’s reservation figure means
In a March 19, 2026 Help Center answer, Scout reported that more than 85% of its reservations were for Harvester EREV. This is a company-reported reservation mix, not an independently audited survey or a tally of completed purchases. Scout has not published a reservation conversion rate, cancellation rate, or final powertrain sales mix.
The figure nevertheless matters because Scout has explicitly connected the reported preference to its intended production sequence. On March 6, the company said it planned to produce EREVs first to match demand. It also said it had not yet released when battery-electric vehicle (BEV) production would begin.
What Harvester adds to the Scout lineup
Scout’s October 2024 announcement said both the Traveler SUV and Terra pickup would be offered as fully electric vehicles or with the Harvester EREV system. In Scout’s description, a small combustion engine recharges the high-voltage battery while the vehicle retains electric drive. That differs from a conventional hybrid arrangement as described by Scout: the engine is presented as a generator to extend range, rather than as the source of propulsion.

Scout president and CEO Scott Keogh summed up the intended role in an October 2024 interview with Axios: “You have a backup generator for your home. This is the backup generator for your car.”
How the reported demand may affect Scout’s future
It is already shaping the planned launch order
The clearest implication is operational: Scout says EREV demand is why it intends to begin with EREV production. Its April 2, 2026 Help Center answer identifies the Traveler with Harvester as the first planned configuration, with initial production targeted for 2027 and first customer deliveries anticipated in 2028. The stated schedule points to the EREV configuration leading the launch, not to a confirmed start date for the BEV.

It may influence early product and production priorities
It is reasonable to infer that an EREV-led launch could direct early engineering, manufacturing preparation, and allocation toward that configuration. If reservation holders ultimately place orders and complete purchases in similar proportions, the EREV could be central to Scout’s early customer base. Those are possibilities, not published forecasts: Scout’s reservation figure does not establish future sales, production volume, or relative profitability.
It does not mean Scout has dropped the BEV
Scout has announced both BEV and Harvester EREV versions. Its March 6 answer said BEV production timing had not been released; that leaves timing unspecified, rather than indicating cancellation or abandonment. Buyers interested in the fully electric versions will need to wait for a published production schedule.

Scout’s projected range: useful context, not a certified comparison
Scout has projected up to 350 miles for fully electric models and more than 500 miles for range-extended models. In its April 2, 2026 Help Center answer, Scout said the range-extended figure was based on internal manufacturer estimates and that EPA estimates would follow when available. These numbers are projections, not EPA-certified ratings, and should not be treated as a direct real-world comparison.
The estimates help explain the intended distinction between the configurations: a BEV relies on its battery, while Harvester adds an onboard generator intended to extend driving range. They do not establish the EREV’s battery-only range, fuel consumption when the generator runs, or how either version will perform under specific driving or towing conditions.

What prospective buyers should watch for
Reservation interest can help explain the launch plan, but it is not enough to determine which Scout is the better fit. As Scout publishes final specifications, compare the following details for the Traveler and Terra:
- Powertrain: BEV versus Harvester EREV, which Scout describes as using an onboard generator to recharge the high-voltage battery.
- Verified range: EPA ratings, including separate figures and test conditions for each configuration.
- EREV operating details: Battery-only range, fuel consumption when the generator operates, and maintenance requirements.
- Use-case effects: Towing range and performance, along with any differences in payload or available equipment.
- Timing and cost: Production timing for each powertrain and final pricing by configuration.
The cited Scout statements do not yet supply those ownership details or a BEV production date. Until they do, the reservation mix is best read as evidence of current interest among Scout reservation holders—and of the company’s stated response to that interest—rather than as a settled forecast of what customers will buy.
