The Honda has larger-diameter wheels, more ground clearance and longer listed suspension travel; the Kawasaki has a 39 cv parallel twin, a lower seat and a larger fuel tank. Those specifications make them credible rivals, not a perfect match for every rider—and they do not establish which is faster, more comfortable or more economical in real use.

Specifications are from Honda’s 2027 Sahara product page and Kawasaki Brazil’s 2026 Versys-X 300 page. The output figures are the manufacturers’ Brazilian-market ratings. Honda separates gasoline and ethanol values; Kawasaki states its figure for the Brazilian model. Weight is not a direct comparison: Honda reports dry mass, while Kawasaki reports running-order mass.

Which one suits your riding?
Choose the Sahara if rough roads and trails are central to the plan
The Sahara’s 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, 269 mm ground clearance and longer listed suspension travel make a stronger specification-sheet case for uneven roads and trail-oriented use. They do not prove that it will be better off-road for every rider: tires, suspension setup, terrain and skill also matter. Honda describes the Sahara as suitable for urban riding and road trips as well as its adventure positioning.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteConsider the Versys-X if paved touring and road equipment matter more
Kawasaki positions the Versys-X around upright ergonomics, wind protection, commuting and road trips. Its 19/17-inch wheels, 180 mm clearance and shorter listed suspension travel point to a less trail-focused setup than the Honda’s on paper. Its lower 815 mm seat may also be easier to manage for some riders, though seat height alone cannot settle fit.

Use the engine figures as a starting point, not a ride verdict
Kawasaki lists substantially higher peak output, while the listed torque peaks occur at different engine speeds: 10,000 rpm for the Versys-X and 5,750 rpm for the Sahara. Peak figures do not show how either bike feels across the rev range, nor do they establish acceleration or overtaking performance. If those qualities matter, compare both on a test ride under conditions relevant to your use.
Equipment: check what comes with the exact trim
Honda Sahara Adventure
Honda’s 4 August 2025 release describing the 2026 model lists full-LED lighting, an LCD Blackout panel with gear indicator, a USB-C port, ESS emergency stop signal, two-channel ABS and a two-level seat. It says the Adventure trim adds tubular guards to protect the bodywork, a longer windscreen and engine sump protection; those items are optional on Standard and Rally. Honda’s current product page lists the 2027 model, so confirm the equipment and fitment for the specific year and trim with a dealer. The Adventure’s top box is not included, according to Honda’s product page.

Kawasaki Versys-X 300
Kawasaki describes an upright riding position, wind protection and a rear carrier. Its Brazil page discusses 17 L hard side cases using Kawasaki’s 1 Key System, hand guards and dual LED auxiliary lights in connection with the Tourer version. Do not assume these are standard on the base motorcycle: confirm whether a quote is for the standard model, Tourer configuration or an accessory package, and whether mounting hardware is included. Kawasaki’s Brazilian specification section lists ABS; that does not establish that its intervention behavior matches Honda’s or that either bike has a particular off-road ABS mode.
Price and ownership details to verify
Honda’s Brazilian price table lists the 2027 Sahara Adventure from R$33,665, the Standard from R$31,855 and the Rally from R$32,555. Honda states that these prices are effective from 23 July 2026, based on São Paulo, exclude freight and may vary by region and availability. Kawasaki lists the Brazilian 2026 Versys-X 300 at R$34,990 plus freight. These are not same-model-year, same-date dealer quotes; get current local out-the-door prices before deciding.

The tank figures do not establish range. The Sahara accepts gasoline and/or ethanol and has a listed 13.8 L tank; the Versys-X tank is listed at 17.0 L. A meaningful range comparison would require comparable fuel-consumption figures, which are not established here. Likewise, the published weights use different definitions, so the 149 kg dry and 175 kg running-order values should not be subtracted to claim a direct weight advantage. Check the owner manuals for payload limits before planning to carry a passenger and luggage.
A practical way to make the choice
- Map your usual routes. Give priority to the Sahara’s trail-oriented dimensions if rough surfaces and clearance are frequent needs; give more weight to the Versys-X’s road-trip positioning if most of your riding is paved.
- Check rider fit in person. The listed seats differ by 44 mm, with the Kawasaki lower. Sit on each bike and assess reach to the ground, handlebar position and comfort in your normal riding gear.
- Compare complete, current quotes. Ask dealers to specify model year, trim, freight, protection, luggage, racks and mounting hardware rather than comparing a base-bike price with an accessory-equipped motorcycle.
- Test the engine and brakes in relevant conditions. Published peak power and torque do not substitute for your impression of low-speed control, highway response or braking. The manufacturer specifications confirm ABS information, not equivalent system behavior.
- Plan luggage and carrying capacity. Confirm accessory compatibility for the exact model year and trim, then use the owner manual’s payload limits rather than inferring capacity from a carrier or case listing.
What the market figure does—and does not—say
In an August 2025 release, Honda said more than 90,000 XRE 300 Sahara motorcycles had reached the Brazilian market. The release also said the model ranked second among trail bikes in FENABRAVE registrations from January through June 2025, behind the NXR 160 Bros. These are historical figures reported by Honda, not current sales data or an independent assessment of reliability or owner satisfaction.

What the specifications cannot settle
The available manufacturer information does not establish a direct comparison of fuel economy, acceleration, comfort, reliability, maintenance costs, braking performance or handling. No independently conducted side-by-side test or measured result for those areas is established here. For those questions, seek current owner-manual maintenance schedules and local service information, and ride both motorcycles if possible.
