If you’re shopping for a Honda XR 300L Tornado, the closest alternatives in the available manufacturer specifications are the Kawasaki KLX300, Honda CRF300L Rally and Suzuki DR-Z4S family. They are candidates to compare, not a proven ranking: the figures come from different markets and versions, and there is no controlled head-to-head ride test behind them. First, note the regional distinction: Honda identifies the XR 300L Tornado as a 2026 Colombia-market model. It is not the same motorcycle as the CRF300L.

Which motorcycles are worth comparing with the XR 300L Tornado?

The best starting shortlist is the Kawasaki KLX300, Honda CRF300L Rally and Suzuki DR-Z4S family. Each has relevant published specifications, but the information is not equally complete for all four motorcycles. The KLX300 is the closest match by stated engine displacement; the CRF300L Rally offers a larger stated fuel capacity than the XR’s source page specifies; and the DR-Z4S+ has published fuel-capacity and ground-clearance figures. Those differences can help you decide what to investigate locally, but they do not establish which bike is better on a particular road or trail.

There is an important naming trap: the XR 300L Tornado and CRF300L Rally are distinct Honda models. The Rally’s specifications below belong to the U.S.-market Rally version, not the standard CRF300L and not the Colombia-market Tornado. Likewise, Suzuki’s cited figures are for the U.S.-market DR-Z4S+ page, not necessarily every DR-Z4S configuration.

Compare the published specifications carefully

The table keeps each figure tied to its stated model year, market and variant. “Not stated” means the cited manufacturer material does not establish that item here; it does not mean the motorcycle lacks the feature.

Output figures not stated in the cited specifications. 333 lb curb weight; Honda says this includes standard equipment, required fluids and a full fuel tank. Seat height: 35.2 inches. Weight and seat height not stated in the cited page material. 8.7 L. Suspension travel, adjustment provisions, wheel sizes and ABS configuration not established by the cited page material. Not stated in the cited Suzuki Motor USA page.

These entries are manufacturer specifications, not results from a shared measuring procedure. In particular, Honda Colombia gives the Tornado’s weight as 143 kg without defining the basis on the cited page, while Honda’s U.S. Rally sheet explicitly calls its 333 lb figure curb weight and explains what it includes. Do not treat those as directly comparable weights. Engine output figures also use different units and rpm points, and a listed horsepower or torque peak alone does not describe how an engine feels across its rev range.

What the XR 300L Tornado’s published specification tells you

Honda Motos Colombia identifies the XR 300L Tornado as a 2026 model. Its page lists a 293 cc air- and oil-cooled, four-valve, single-cylinder OHC engine, producing 24.3 hp at 7,500 rpm and 26.5 Nm at 5,750 rpm. It specifies a mechanical transmission but does not state the gear count in the cited material. The motorcycle has electric start and Euro III certification.

For suspension, Honda lists a conventional Showa telescopic fork with 221 mm of travel and a Showa Pro-Link rear monoshock with seven-position preload adjustment. The published tire sizes are 90/90-21 at the front and 120/80-18 at the rear. Braking is by front and rear discs with ABS. The stated dimensions are 2,202 × 828 × 1,298 mm, with a 1,429 mm wheelbase; the listed weight is 143 kg.

O'Neal Sierra Helmet, Black/Gray MD
  • Polycarbonate/ABS Shell construction
  • Integrated face shield
  • Height adjustable helmet shield
  • Padded Chin Strap with Double-D safety lock
  • Meets DOT FMVSS 218 and ECE 22.05 safety standards

Those figures describe the Colombia-market motorcycle. Before relying on them for a purchase in another country, check the local model’s year, specification, homologation and equipment with Honda or a local dealer. A model name can persist across markets while specifications and approved road equipment differ.

How the alternatives differ on paper

Kawasaki KLX300: the closest stated displacement match

Kawasaki’s 2026 U.S. KLX300 sheet gives a 292 cc liquid-cooled DOHC single, 25 hp at 8,000 rpm and 17.7 lb-ft at 7,000 rpm. It also specifies fuel injection, a six-speed transmission and chain final drive. Its displacement is close to the Tornado’s stated 293 cc, but that does not make the two engines interchangeable in character: the cooling method, engine design and published peak rpm points differ, and the figures are from their respective manufacturers rather than a common test.

The KLX sheet is especially useful if adjustable suspension is on your checklist. It lists compression adjustment at the 43 mm inverted fork and compression, rebound and preload adjustment at the rear shock. The stated travel is 10.0 inches front and 9.1 inches rear. It also lists 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tires, matching the Tornado’s stated wheel diameters, though not necessarily its tire sizes or locally available fitments.

  • Light weight durable aerodynamic thermoplastic alloy shell;
  • Heavily cushioned and comfortable interior, Removable and washable
  • Beautiful glossy UV protective finish;
  • DOT Approved; Meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218 (FMVSS 218).

Kawasaki’s $5,649–$5,849 MSRP range applies to the 2026 U.S. model. It is not a meaningful direct price comparison with a Colombia-market Honda or with an out-the-door price in another country; taxes, fees, dealer pricing, availability and local specifications must be checked locally.

Honda CRF300L Rally: evaluate the Rally, not just the name

The 2026 U.S. CRF300L Rally specification sheet lists a 286 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine and six-speed manual transmission. It gives 10.2 inches of front and rear suspension travel, ABS, a 3.4-gallon fuel capacity, a 35.2-inch seat height and 333 pounds curb weight. Honda defines the weight as including standard equipment, required fluids and a full fuel tank; the figures are preliminary and subject to change.

The Rally’s fuel capacity and body configuration belong specifically to the Rally version. Do not apply its 3.4-gallon figure, seat height or weight to the standard CRF300L, or treat either CRF model as a different-market XR Tornado. If you are comparing them in person, confirm the exact trim and the local specification sheet before assessing fit, range or road equipment.

  • Ventilation: The e bike helmet has nine vents to maximize airflow. The aerodynamic air intake system ensures that you stay cool when riding a motorcycle and any other power sports vehicle.
  • Safety Protection: Tinted outer lens that fits the scooter helmet shape and blocks sunlight, sand, and any other airborne hazards. Is easy to remove or replace.
  • Multi-functional: 3/4 Open Face Motorcycle Helmet Fits both Men and Women. Ideal for ATV, MTB, Dirt Bike, Street Bike, Cruiser, Scooter, Moped and Other Outdoor Sports.

Suzuki DR-Z4S family: a narrower but useful evidence point

Suzuki Motor USA’s surfaced 2026 DR-Z4S+ page states 8.7 L fuel capacity and 300 mm ground clearance. Those are useful screening figures if capacity or clearance is central to your decision, but the available cited specification material does not support a complete comparison of engine output, weight, seat height, suspension, wheels or ABS for the family as a whole.

Keep the “+” in view: the cited page is specifically for the DR-Z4S+, so verify that the figures and equipment correspond to the precise version offered by a local dealer. Do not silently transfer a specification from that page to a different DR-Z4S variant or market.

Choose by your riding and buying constraints

Specification sheets are most useful when they answer a decision you have already identified. Start with where and how you will ride, then use local dealer information and a physical inspection to resolve the gaps. No specification table can decide whether a motorcycle’s fit, suspension setup or power delivery suits you.

For a mixed commute and trail use

  • Check local road legality, homologation, lighting and required equipment for the exact year and variant. The Tornado’s cited Colombia page lists Euro III certification; do not infer another market’s certification from it.
  • Compare the published transmission information, but note that the Tornado source says “mechanical transmission” without a gear count. The KLX300 and CRF300L Rally sheets specify six-speed transmissions.
  • Ask a local dealer for a written, on-road price and an actual delivery estimate. The only price in the cited specifications is the KLX300’s U.S. MSRP range, not a quote for another market.

For frequent off-road riding

  • Use suspension travel and adjustment details as a starting checklist, not as proof of superior performance. The listed travel uses different units and may not represent identical measurement methods.
  • Consider the wheel and tire information together. The Tornado lists tire sizes, while the KLX sheet gives wheel diameters; the Rally and Suzuki page material cited here do not establish wheel sizes.
  • Ask about tire options, replacement availability and service support where you actually ride. Those local details are not established by the manufacturer figures above.

For shorter riders, taller riders or loaded travel

  • Seat height is stated for the 2026 U.S. CRF300L Rally only. The cited sheets do not provide seat height for the Tornado, KLX300 or DR-Z4S+.
  • Try the exact motorcycle with your intended riding boots and, if possible, the luggage or passenger load you expect to carry. A specification table cannot show how the suspension settles under your weight or whether you can manage the bike at a stop.
  • Compare a consistent weight definition. Ask whether the local manufacturer’s figure is curb, wet, dry or another measure, and what fluids or fuel it includes before using it to judge handling or loading.

For fuel stops and longer distances

  • The Rally sheet states 3.4 U.S. gallons and the Suzuki DR-Z4S+ page states 8.7 L. Honda’s Tornado page and the cited KLX300 sheet do not state fuel capacity.
  • Capacity is not the same as range. The cited materials do not establish comparable fuel-economy figures, riding conditions or reserve behavior, so do not calculate a reliable range from these capacities alone.
  • Ask for the owner’s manual or local product specification for the precise variant, then consider fuel availability along your actual routes.

A practical comparison process before you buy

  1. Confirm identity and market. Ask for the model year, full variant name and country-market specification sheet. For the Honda, distinguish the XR 300L Tornado from the CRF300L Rally; for Suzuki, establish whether the offered bike is the DR-Z4S+ or another configuration.
  2. Get the local numbers. Request current local price, fees, stock status, warranty terms, service interval information and parts availability from an authorized local seller. The cited U.S. MSRP cannot answer those questions for a Colombia-market or other-country purchase.
  3. Compare like with like. Write down the weight definition, fuel capacity, seat height, ground clearance, suspension travel, wheel and tire sizes, transmission and ABS configuration for each exact variant. Mark unknown items as questions rather than filling them with figures from a different trim.
  4. Inspect and sit on the actual bike. Check reach to the ground and controls, steering movement, stand use and the bike’s balance at a stop. If the dealer permits, arrange a test ride on a legal route representative of your intended use; no head-to-head test result is established by the specifications presented here.
  5. Choose against your own priorities. Rank the factors that matter most—local support, fit, road use, terrain, load, fuel stops, suspension adjustability and purchase cost—then compare the verified local versions. A different priority order can produce a different sensible choice.

What the specifications cannot settle

Manufacturer figures do not establish real-world reliability, maintenance cost, fuel economy, resale value, dealer stock or comparative ride quality. They also do not show how suspension performs for a particular rider and load, how manageable a motorcycle feels on difficult terrain, or how local parts supply compares. The cited material contains no ownership-cost statistics, owner interviews or independent comparative test results.

A reader might frame the decision as “Honda Tornado XR300L vs Kawasaki KLX300 — what would you choose in my situation?” The useful answer depends on the rider’s location, body fit, road-to-trail split, terrain, load, budget and support network. Without those details and a comparable test, a universal winner would be guesswork.
