The Honda Super-ONE is a compact, four-seat battery-electric car whose SPORT and BOOST modes pair simulated seven-speed shifts with synthesized engine-like sounds played inside the cabin. The sound is an intentional driving effect—not a real combustion engine and not an exterior pedestrian alert. Honda’s published Japan-market figures list 47 kW in normal mode and 70 kW in BOOST.
How does the Super-ONE make engine sounds?
In SPORT and BOOST, the Super-ONE combines virtual shift control with Active Sound Control. The cabin speakers play synthesized sound that follows a virtual engine speed, creating the impression of engine revs and gear changes. Honda describes the sound and shift feel as part of the driving experience; they do not mean the electric car has a combustion engine.
The features are mode-specific: Honda says simulated shifting and Active Sound Control are available in SPORT and BOOST. The Japanese specification page describes the mechanism and modes at Honda’s Super-ONE performance page.
What changes in BOOST mode?
Honda’s Japan launch release lists maximum output as 47 kW in the normal setting and 70 kW in BOOST. BOOST also synchronizes the virtual shift control and Active Sound Control to deliver the model’s sharper simulated gearshift and sound effects. These are Honda’s published output figures; they do not establish a particular acceleration time or a direct performance advantage over another EV.

Japan-market range, battery and charging
Honda lists a 29.6 kWh battery and a 274 km WLTC one-charge range for the Japanese-market Super-ONE. The 274 km figure is a test-cycle result, not a promise of distance in everyday driving. Honda says actual range can vary with weather, traffic, driving style and air-conditioning use; see its range FAQ and performance specifications.
Honda’s owner manual provides these estimated charging times, starting when the vehicle indicates low charge and at 25°C. Actual time varies with battery state, temperature and the charger.

Japan price and availability
Honda announced that the production Super-ONE went on sale in Japan on May 22, 2026. The Japanese model page lists a national suggested price of ¥3,390,200, including Japanese consumption tax and before incentives. Subsidy examples shown by Honda depend on location, registration date, eligibility and available budget, so they are not a guaranteed purchase price.

Honda’s earlier global prototype announcement said the company planned a Japan launch followed by regions with strong compact-EV demand, including the U.K. and parts of Asia. That plan is not confirmation of current retail availability, local pricing or specifications in those markets. Check Honda in your country for current status. Practical specifications and a vehicle-specific power accessory
Honda’s Japan specifications identify the Super-ONE as a four-seat, front-wheel-drive EV. For owners seeking to power an appliance, Honda Access lists the Honda Power Supply Connector, part 08E75-PV6-000. It plugs into the Super-ONE’s ordinary charging port and supplies AC100V output up to 1500W. Honda identifies the accessory for this model and directs buyers to Honda Cars; do not assume it works with other EVs.

The Super-ONE’s simulated shifts and cabin sound are a distinctive preference rather than a substitute for comparing practical EV specifications. When weighing it against another compact electric car, compare the same market and price basis, test-cycle range and battery capacity, charging support and conditions, passenger and cargo practicality, and whether you want sound and shift effects. The Japan-market figures above should not be treated as specifications for a different country.
