The highest verified figure in this ranking is 315 hp for the 2024 Honda Civic Type R. This is a ranking of U.S.-market Honda-badged examples with horsepower figures established by the cited Honda sources—not a complete ranking of every model year and trim. Honda’s published U.S. history and specifications do not provide a verified figure for every generation, so the table identifies each year or configuration it can support rather than filling gaps with estimates.
How this Honda horsepower ranking is defined
“Honda sports car” can mean a dedicated sports car or a sporty version of a mainstream car. This ranking includes Honda-badged Prelude and S2000 sports cars, along with Civic Si and Civic Type R performance models. Honda’s U.S. model history includes those nameplates; the Si is a Civic variant, not a dedicated two-seat sports car. Honda’s U.S. model history describes the Prelude as a sport coupe and the S2000 as a two-seat open-top roadster.

The Type R has the highest documented figure here
At 315 hp, the 2024 Civic Type R is the most powerful entry in the documented list. Honda’s 2017 history says the first U.S.-market Type R made 306 hp, illustrating why a model name without a year can hide a meaningful difference. These are verified examples, not proof that 315 hp is the peak output across every Honda model year or configuration.

Some nameplates span a wide range
The Civic Si history runs from the 91-hp 1985 CRX Si through later, more powerful Civics. The Prelude figures shown here—190 hp for the 1993 VTEC and 200 hp for the fifth generation—also represent specific versions, not every Prelude sold. A complete all-time ranking would require U.S.-specific year-and-trim figures for the generations and trims not covered by these published anchors; outputs from other markets should not be substituted.
Current listings do not fill every gap
Honda’s U.S. vehicle page lists the 2026 Civic Si, 2026 Civic Type R, and 2027 Prelude Hybrid. The available U.S. specification page establishes 200 hp for the 2026 Si, while the retrieved Type R specification is for 2024. The vehicle listing does not state the Prelude Hybrid’s horsepower, and the sources here do not establish its U.S. sale timing or output. Those missing figures are not ranked as zero or estimated.
