At CES 2025, Honda unveiled two electric-vehicle prototypes: the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV. The company planned production versions for North America in 2026, but on March 12, 2026, Honda announced it had cancelled development and market launch of both vehicles. The reveal is now best understood as a snapshot of Honda’s intended EV design and technology direction, not a preview of cars coming to showrooms.
What Honda revealed at CES 2025
Honda presented the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV in Las Vegas on January 7, 2025 (January 8 in Japan), describing them as the first two prototype models in its Honda 0 Series. The company also introduced ASIMO OS, its planned original vehicle operating system for 0 Series models. Honda’s CES 2025 announcement framed the vehicles around its “Thin, Light, and Wise” development approach.
Honda 0 Saloon
Honda positioned the 0 Saloon as the series flagship. It developed the prototype from the Saloon concept shown at CES 2024, retaining a low, sporty shape while presenting an interior the company said would feel more spacious than the exterior dimensions suggested. Honda said the planned model would use a dedicated EV architecture.
Honda 0 SUV
The 0 SUV was described as a mid-size electric SUV and the first planned 0 Series model. Honda linked it to the Space-Hub concept shown at CES 2024, emphasizing cabin space, visibility, and flexibility. It also highlighted digital user experiences and attitude-estimation and stabilization technology derived from its robotics work.

How the two prototypes were meant to differ
| Prototype | Honda’s intended role | Emphasis in the CES presentation |
|---|---|---|
| 0 Saloon | Flagship, low-slung car | Sporty styling, a dedicated EV architecture, and a spacious-feeling interior |
| 0 SUV | Mid-size SUV; first planned 0 Series model | Cabin space, visibility, flexibility, and robotics-derived attitude estimation and stabilization |
The comparison reflects Honda’s descriptions of the prototypes, not available purchase choices or confirmed production specifications.

Software and driving technology Honda planned
Honda said ASIMO OS would bring vehicle functions such as automated driving and driver assistance together with infotainment. The company also intended to use over-the-air updates to improve features and services after purchase. Those were plans for 0 Series vehicles, not proof that the CES prototypes had production-ready software.
For driving assistance, Honda described an ambition to expand Level 3 “eyes-off” driving through the 0 Series. Its initial stated use case was highway traffic congestion, with the possibility of expanding supported situations through updates. Honda’s broader aspirations should not be mistaken for a capability demonstrated in these prototypes or a verified feature of a production vehicle.

Honda separately announced an agreement with Renesas Electronics Corporation to develop a high-performance system-on-chip for next-generation 0 Series models in the late 2020s. Honda and Renesas set targets of 2,000 TOPS in sparse AI performance and 20 TOPS/W in power efficiency for that planned chip. These were development targets for a future system—not specifications for either CES vehicle.
Charging, energy services, and other announced targets
Honda outlined plans for North American charging access and home energy management. The figures below were company or partner targets and projections announced in 2024 or 2025; none establishes a delivered feature or independently verified result for the prototypes.
| Figure | What it referred to | Attribution and timing |
|---|---|---|
| At least 30,000 charging stations by 2030 | IONNA’s stated charging-network aim | As stated by Honda in 2025 |
| More than 100,000 charging stations accessible by 2030 | Honda’s projection for North American 0 Series users using NACS | Honda, 2025 |
| About 80% of EV charging at home | Expectation Honda cited as a reason to develop home energy services | Honda, 2025 |
| 15% to 80% charge in about 10–15 minutes | Charging target for planned 0 Series models | Honda, 2024; a target, not a confirmed production result |
| Less than 10% battery-capacity degradation after 10 years | Battery durability target for planned 0 Series models | Honda, 2024; a target, not a confirmed production result |
Honda’s 2024 0 Series announcement set out the charging-time and battery-degradation targets. The CES presentation added the later charging-access and home-energy plans.

In January 2025, Honda said the production 0 SUV was scheduled to appear first in North America in the first half of 2026, while the 0 Saloon was planned for North America in 2026. That schedule was superseded: on March 12, 2026, Honda announced cancellation of development and market launch for both vehicles, as well as the Acura RSX EV.

Honda attributed its decision to a reassessment of its electrification strategy and business conditions, including declining EV demand in North America and difficulty achieving profitability under the circumstances at the time. That is Honda’s stated rationale. The cancellation means the two CES prototypes should not be treated as forthcoming Honda models. Honda’s March 12, 2026 announcement gives the company’s explanation.
What the CES reveal means for prospective buyers
The 0 Saloon and 0 SUV did not reach market, so this reveal does not provide a basis for comparing vehicles to buy, checking accessory compatibility, or choosing charging equipment for either model. Honda’s CES presentation remains useful as a record of design and technology ambitions, but it does not establish which ideas may appear in other Honda vehicles.
