Honda Prologue Charging Rate Explained: Level 1, Level 2 and DC Fast Charging Times (2025–2026)

Honda rates the Prologue at up to 34.1 miles of range per hour on a 240-volt Level 2 charger, and about 62 to 65 miles in 10 minutes on DC fast charging. Here is what those figures mean for home, public and road-trip charging.

On a 240-volt Level 2 charger, Honda rates the Prologue at up to 34.1 miles of range added per hour. On a DC fast charger, Honda lists about 62 to 65 miles of range added in 10 minutes, depending on trim, and 35 minutes to go from 20% to 80% state of charge. These are Honda’s published estimates, not guaranteed rates. A figure only means something once you know the charger, the starting charge and which model year and trim it describes.

Charging rates at a glance

The table below puts Honda’s published figures side by side. Each row keeps the charging method, the stated conditions and the source attached, because the numbers are not interchangeable.

Charging method Honda’s published figure Conditions Honda states Source
Level 1, 120-volt outlet, portable kit 4.2 miles of range per hour Portable kit at 1.4 kW / 12 amps (Level 1 setting) Honda EV Charging Guide (2024)
Level 2, 240-volt, portable kit 23.2 miles of range per hour Portable kit at 7.6 kW / 32 amps (Level 2 setting) Honda EV Charging Guide (2024)
Level 2, 240-volt, Honda Home Charging Station 35.7 miles of range per hour Estimate named for the home station in the 2024 guide; no further conditions listed Honda EV Charging Guide (2024)
Level 2, 240-volt, current Prologue page Up to 34.1 miles of range per hour Level 2 AC charging; same 34.1 figure appears in Honda’s 2025 and 2026 specifications Honda News, March 3, 2025; Honda 2026 specifications
DC fast charging, 10 minutes About 62 to 65 miles of range added Varies by trim in Honda’s spec tables; the current model page rounds to about 65 miles Honda News, March 3, 2025; Honda 2026 specifications; Honda Prologue model page
DC fast charging, 20% to 80% 35 minutes Starting at 20% and stopping at 80% state of charge; not a 0-to-100% figure Honda News, March 3, 2025; Honda 2026 specifications

What “miles per hour” means on Honda’s charts

Honda expresses Level 1 and Level 2 charging as range added per hour, not as a power rating for the car. The 34.1-mile figure is an estimate of range, so it cannot be turned into a charging rate in kilowatts without knowing the vehicle’s efficiency, and Honda does not publish that conversion. The portable kit entries are the exception, because the 2024 guide gives the equipment’s kilowatt and amp ratings alongside the range estimate.

The range-per-hour figures are still useful for planning. At the up-to 34.1-mile Level 2 rate, an eight-hour overnight session would add roughly 270 miles of range on paper. At the 4.2-mile Level 1 rate, the same eight hours would add roughly 34 miles. Those products of multiplication are arithmetic on Honda’s numbers, not a forecast for any particular night.

The 2025 specifications list an 85 kWh battery across the 2025 trims. If you take that 85 kWh as the full pack, the 20% to 80% window represents about 51 kWh of energy, which gives you a rough yardstick for comparing that Honda figure with the output of a charger you are considering.

Level 1: standard 120-volt outlet

Level 1 uses an ordinary household outlet and is the slowest option. Honda’s 2024 guide estimates 4.2 miles of range per hour with the portable kit at 1.4 kW and 12 amps. The same guide estimates a full 0-to-100% charge takes several days on Level 1. Honda positions this option for drivers with low daily mileage, apartment dwellers and renters who cannot install a dedicated charger.

Level 1 suits you if:

  • You drive a short daily distance and can plug in every night for many hours.
  • You have a reliable outlet near where you park and no ability to add 240-volt service.
  • You do not need to rely on the car for long trips without a faster stop.

Level 2: 240-volt home and public charging

Level 2 is the realistic daily setup for most owners, because it adds range several times faster than Level 1 on Honda’s figures. The stated numbers, however, depend on which Honda equipment you use.

Current Prologue page: up to 34.1 miles per hour

Honda’s current Prologue page and its 2026 specifications list up to 34.1 miles of range per hour on a 240-volt AC charger. The 2025 Honda News specifications release lists the same figure. Use this number for a generic 240-volt Level 2 charger, and treat it as the upper end of what Honda claims.

Portable kit on Level 2: 23.2 miles per hour

The 2024 guide describes the portable kit’s Level 2 setting at 7.6 kW and 32 amps and estimates 23.2 miles of range per hour. The same guide estimates a full 0-to-100% charge in 13.1 hours on that setting. If you plan to use the portable kit on a 240-volt outlet for regular charging, this is the figure to plan around.

Why the 2024 guide and the current page give different Level 2 numbers

The 2024 guide lists 35.7 miles per hour for the Honda Home Charging Station and 23.2 miles per hour for the portable kit. The current page lists up to 34.1 miles per hour. These numbers describe different equipment and configurations, and the sources do not present the gap as a change in the car or its hardware. Before you compare numbers, confirm which Honda charger the figure is attached to.

DC fast charging for road trips

DC fast charging is the option for longer trips. Honda’s 2025 and 2026 specification tables show about 62 to 65 miles of range added in 10 minutes, with the exact figure varying by trim. The current model page rounds this to about 65 miles. Honda gives 35 minutes for a charge from 20% to 80%.

Plan stops around the 20% to 80% window. Honda’s published DC figures do not describe charging to 100%, so a 35-minute number is not a full-battery time. If you arrive at a station with a very low charge, the first stretch of your stop will add range at the rate shown above, but Honda’s figures do not tell you how long the last portion to 100% will take.

Equipment and compatibility

Honda’s 2024 EV Charging Guide names two products, and its current Prologue page describes a third accessory for public DC fast chargers.

  • Honda Portable Charging Kit: supports Level 1 or Level 2 charging depending on the outlet and configuration, as described in the 2024 guide.
  • Honda Home Charging Station: a 240-volt home unit named in the guide. Honda says installation may be required for home charging equipment, so confirm electrical work with a qualified installer before buying.
  • Honda NACS-CCS adapter: the current Prologue page says drivers can access Tesla Superchargers and other DC fast chargers through the car’s NACS port when they purchase this adapter. Honda does not say the adapter raises the vehicle’s charging rate. Network access and adapter availability can change, so check Honda’s current pages before you buy.

Choosing a charging setup

Work through these questions in order. Each one narrows the choice to the charging method that fits.

  1. Can you plug into a 120-volt outlet overnight and cover your typical day with it? If yes, Level 1 with the portable kit may be enough, using the 4.2-mile-per-hour estimate.
  2. Do you have, or can you install, a 240-volt circuit at home? If yes, Level 2 with the Home Charging Station or a compatible 240-volt setup gives faster overnight replenishment.
  3. Do you take regular road trips? If yes, plan DC fast charging stops with the 20% to 80% figure in mind, and add the NACS-CCS adapter if you need access to non-Honda DC fast chargers.

Why your actual rate will differ

Honda’s 2024 charging guide states: “Your results will vary based on vehicle and battery condition, charger output, original state of charge, and environmental factors.” The guide does not rank these factors or quantify their effect, so a published rate is best read as an upper reference point rather than a promise.

In practice, that means the rate you see on a given day depends on the battery’s condition, the output of the specific charger, where your charge starts and the conditions around you. Use Honda’s figures to compare options, then expect your own sessions to differ from the published numbers.
