2022: Rugged redesign and first TrailSport
Honda’s corporate chronology identifies the 2022 Passport as receiving rugged new styling and the first Passport TrailSport. The same chronology records Alabama production of the 2022 model. These are documented milestones, not a complete account of every change across the third generation.
2026: Fourth-generation model
Honda’s April 1, 2025 press kit describes the 2026 Passport as a fourth-generation, all-new model. Honda lists three trims—RTL, TrailSport, and TrailSport Elite—and a standard 3.5-liter V6 producing 285 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and second-generation torque-vectoring i-VTM4 all-wheel drive. Honda states a 5,000-pound towing capability and says the vehicle is built exclusively at its Alabama plant. These are Honda’s specifications for the 2026 model, not specifications that should be applied to earlier Passports.

Honda describes the TrailSport with off-road-tuned suspension, steel skid plates, recovery points, and all-terrain tires. The press kit also lists 83.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the first row. Equipment and figures are model-specific; check the applicable model year and trim before comparing vehicles. Honda’s stated claims for the newer i-VTM4 rear drive unit are 40% more torque capacity and 30% faster response, compared with the prior unit.
Which Passport model year should you look at?
There is no single best year established by the available generation history. Use the generations and milestones to narrow a search, then compare the specific vehicle’s equipment and condition rather than assuming every year in a generation is identical.
