The Honda Elevate remains a petrol-only comparison in the official material available here, with manual and CVT options. For highway use, there is no sound basis to declare one SUV the universal winner: compare the exact versions and test-drive both on a route like yours.
There is also a timing caveat for Indian buyers: Honda announced the New Elevate on 1 October 2026, with launch scheduled for 6 October. Check current prices and specifications after launch before choosing.

The Hyryder is sold with strong-hybrid, neoDrive petrol and CNG powertrains. The Elevate comparison here is petrol, with manual or CVT transmission. Your decision therefore depends on the version you would actually buy, not just the name on the tailgate.
City driving: the hybrid has the strongest economy case
Hyryder strong hybrid
Toyota’s 2025 brochure states 27.97 km/l for the Hyryder strong hybrid. An Autocar comparison reports a 20.28 km/l city-test result for the Hyryder hybrid, but its displayed comparisons cover different variants. It is not a controlled city test against every Elevate configuration, so treat it as a reported test result rather than a direct head-to-head guarantee.

Hyryder neoDrive and Honda Elevate
Toyota quotes 20.58 km/l for the 2WD automatic neoDrive and 21.12 km/l for the 2WD manual; the 19.39 km/l figure applies to the AWD manual neoDrive. For the Elevate, Honda Cars India lists 16.92 km/l for the CVT and 15.31 km/l for the manual. Honda says certified mileage is measured under standard test conditions and can vary with traffic, road and climate conditions, and maintenance. The figures are not a promise of what an individual driver will achieve.
For a meaningful purchase comparison, match transmission and drivetrain, then obtain same-day quotes for the specific grades. A strong hybrid versus a petrol-only Elevate is a different comparison from a neoDrive versus an Elevate.

Maneuvering and parking
Honda reports a 5.2 m minimum turning radius, while Toyota lists 5.4 m. That small published difference alone does not establish which SUV is easier to park: visibility, camera equipment, vehicle dimensions and driver preference also matter. Try the parking aids and a tight turn during your test drive.
Highway driving: test the exact versions you would buy
The Elevate’s 1.5-litre petrol engine is listed at 121 hp and 145 Nm, while Toyota gives the Hyryder strong hybrid a combined output of 115.56 hp. These describe different powertrain systems; the figures alone do not predict which will feel quicker during an overtake or more relaxed at cruising speed.

With several Hyryder powertrains and no like-for-like, same-condition highway test covering equivalent versions, a universal winner is not established. Drive both on a route that includes steady cruising and safe overtaking opportunities. Assess acceleration response, cabin noise, seat comfort and ride quality yourself rather than relying on engine outputs or certified mileage to answer those questions.
Safety equipment: compare grades, not just model names
Honda’s official specifications list six airbags, ACE body structure, LaneWatch, hill-start assist, a multi-angle rear camera, stability assist, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX anchorages. Toyota’s 2025 brochure lists six airbags, vehicle stability control, tyre-pressure monitoring (TPMS), ABS with EBD and hill-hold, among other equipment. Availability can vary by grade, so confirm the exact feature list for the versions on your shortlist.

Honda SENSING includes driver-assistance functions such as lane keeping assist, road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, auto high-beam and lead-car departure notification on relevant trims. These are assistance systems, not autonomous driving; check which grade includes each function and test whether the alerts and controls suit you.
A list of safety equipment is not an independent crash-test result. No comparable current India-market crash-test rating for matching versions is established here, so do not use these equipment lists to infer which SUV offers better crash protection.

Prices and the October 2026 Elevate update
Honda Cars India’s 1 October 2026 announcement said bookings had opened for the New Elevate and scheduled its India launch for 6 October 2026. The existing official page showed a starting price of ₹11,80,700 when accessed, but that should not be treated as the post-launch price. Toyota pricing also varies by trim, location, taxes and dealer offer. Request current city-specific ex-showroom and on-road quotes for matched grades before deciding.
Honda Vice President—Marketing and Sales Kunal Behl described the update as adding “several strongly desired features and enhancements, along with a bolder design and more premium cabin experience.” That is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent assessment. Confirm the New Elevate’s final specifications and equipment against the version actually offered to you.

How to make the final comparison
- Set your driving mix. Estimate how much of your use is congested city traffic versus open-road driving. The strong hybrid’s published economy case is most relevant if urban stop-start use is a major priority.
- Choose the powertrain and transmission first. Decide whether you are considering Hyryder strong hybrid, neoDrive or CNG, and identify the Elevate manual or CVT grade. Do not compare unlike versions as though they were equivalent.
- Get matched, current quotes. Ask dealers for the same-day price, on-road charges and included equipment for the exact grades in your city. Recheck the Elevate after its scheduled 6 October launch.
- Verify safety and convenience equipment by grade. Confirm airbags, driver assistance, cameras and parking aids on the actual vehicle rather than relying on a model-wide list.
- Drive both on your normal route. Include a tight parking maneuver and, where practical and safe, a highway segment that lets you assess overtaking response, noise and comfort.
