Honda’s 2026 recall notice includes an interim “Do Not Drive Park Outside” instruction for certain CR-Vs, but it does not affect just six vehicles. The filing lists 744,530 potentially involved 2023–2026 CR-V Hybrids and 340 potentially involved 2025–2026 CR-V Fuel Cell EVs. Whether your vehicle is included depends on its VIN and recall status.
What the 2026 Honda CR-V recall covers
Recall 26V366 was submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on June 4, 2026. It concerns the flat-tire repair kit supplied with specified CR-V models. American Honda’s filing lists these potentially involved vehicles:

These are potentially involved counts in Honda’s filing, not confirmed defective vehicles or a count of cars that remain unrepaired. The full filing covers 1,049,883 vehicles across multiple Honda models, not CR-Vs alone. Read NHTSA’s recall report 26V366.
Why NHTSA says to park outside
The repair kit’s sealant bottle cap may detach if pressure builds while the kit is used with its nozzle improperly connected. NHTSA says a detached cap increases the risk of injury. Its interim advisory for this recall is “Do Not Drive Park Outside.” Treat that as the instruction filed for affected vehicles—not as a general warning for every Honda CR-V.

In Honda’s regulatory filing, the company reported 53 warranty claims and eight injury reports, with no death report, as of May 28, 2026. The filing describes U.S. reports through May 21, 2026; these figures are not an injury rate for CR-Vs generally.
What CR-V owners should do
- Check your VIN. Use the NHTSA recall lookup or Honda’s recall lookup to see whether your specific vehicle has an open recall. Model year or trim alone cannot establish eligibility.
- If recall 26V366 is open for your vehicle, follow the interim instruction. NHTSA’s advisory says not to drive and to park outside. Contact an authorized Honda dealer for next steps and repair arrangements.
- Have the dealer complete the recall repair. The remedy is replacement of the affected tire-repair-kit nozzle or sealant bottle. Honda says safety recall repairs at authorized dealers are free.
NHTSA cautions that its VIN tool does not display recalls that have already been repaired and may omit recalls more than 15 years old. For the older campaign below, check with Honda as well as consulting the available NHTSA records.

There was also an older CR-V recall with an outdoor-parking warning
The wording can also refer to a separate Honda recall: 12V-486, also known as Campaign S61, announced in November 2012. It covered certain 2002–2006 CR-Vs whose power-window master switch could overheat, smoke, melt, or burn—even while the vehicle was not in use. Honda advised owners to park outside until the recall repair was performed and said the repair or replacement would be free. This is a different defect and campaign from the 2026 tire-repair-kit recall. See Honda’s original 2012 owner notice.

No. The NHTSA report for recall 26V366 lists hundreds of thousands of potentially involved CR-V Hybrids and 340 potentially involved CR-V Fuel Cell EVs. It does not support a claim that only six CR-Vs are affected. The headline’s “6” should not be read as the number of recalled vehicles.
