Honda is ending Civic Type R sales in Europe in 2026, but its announcement does not say the car is being discontinued worldwide. To mark the European sales ending, Honda Motor Europe announced a 40-car Ultimate Edition on 5 June 2025, including a 10-car allocation for the UK.
What is ending—and where?
Honda Motor Europe said European Civic Type R sales would end in 2026. The announcement concerns Europe; it does not establish that sales are ending in every market. Honda gave no exact final sale date, and the release is not a live inventory update, so it cannot confirm whether a particular car is still available.
Honda’s Hannah Swift, Head of European Strategy and Product, linked the model range’s evolution to European legislation: “The industry is changing, and our model range is having to evolve with it in accordance with European legislation.” She added: “However, Type R has always been Honda’s ultimate expression of our passion for driving excitement, and we look forward to celebrating its heritage in the weeks and months ahead.”
How many Ultimate Edition cars are being made available?
Honda said 40 Ultimate Edition cars would be available across Europe, alongside remaining standard models. The UK allocation is 10, offered through Honda retailers on a first-come, first-served basis. Those figures are from Honda’s 5 June 2025 announcement, not a current stock count. The release does not say how many remain available.

What makes the Ultimate Edition different?
Honda describes the edition as a special presentation of the existing Type R, with distinctive trim and included items. Its release does not provide a complete specification comparison with the standard model or identify any mechanical changes.
Exterior and cabin details
- Championship White paint with bespoke red decals on the bonnet and sides.
- A black-painted roof and carbon details, including a rear wing spoiler and door-step garnish.
- Added interior illumination and a Type R logo projector that displays when the front doors open.
Included collector and ownership items
Honda says each car comes with a gift box containing a numbered emblem, carbon key ring, custom-made floor mats and a vehicle cover. The emblem is numbered from one to 40. These are items Honda announced as included with the edition; the release does not establish separate aftermarket availability or fitment.

Ultimate Edition or remaining standard Type R?
| Consideration | Ultimate Edition | Remaining standard models |
|---|---|---|
| Availability at announcement | 40 across Europe, including 10 allocated to the UK; UK sales through Honda retailers on a first-come, first-served basis. | Honda said remaining standard models would also be available; no quantity or current stock count was stated. |
| Edition-specific presentation | White paint, red decals, black roof, carbon details, added illumination and a door-opening Type R logo projector. | The release does not provide a full standard-model specification comparison. |
| Included items | Numbered emblem, carbon key ring, custom-made floor mats and vehicle cover, according to Honda. | Not stated in the release. |

The practical distinction supported by Honda’s announcement is the limited allocation and special-edition finish and items. It does not support a claim that the Ultimate Edition has different performance hardware or a particular price.
Why is Honda ending European sales?
Swift cited the need for Honda’s model range to evolve in accordance with European legislation. The announcement does not identify a specific regulation or spell out a detailed technical or commercial reason for the decision.
