In the available reported comparison, the Aprilia RS 660 is slightly faster: MotoStatz lists a top speed of 147 mph for the Aprilia and 144 mph for the Honda CBR650R. That three-mph gap is a reported result, not a confirmed win from a matched, controlled test. Aprilia separately claims 240 km/h for the RS 660 Factory, a specific trim. Honda CBR650R vs. Aprilia RS 660 top speed
MotoStatz’s comparison, published October 25, 2024, reports 147 mph for the RS 660 and 144 mph for the CBR650R. It also lists 0–60 mph in 3.29 seconds for the Aprilia and 3.33 seconds for the Honda, plus 0–100 mph in 6.8 and 7.5 seconds, respectively. These are figures reported by MotoStatz; the surfaced comparison does not establish a sufficiently clear protocol to treat them as results from a controlled, independently instrumented test.
Aprilia’s press release gives a separate manufacturer claim of 240 km/h for the RS 660 Factory. The claim is not a measurement of every RS 660 trim, and it should not be directly compared with MotoStatz’s reported figures as though both came from the same test. Aprilia’s RS 660 Factory release says: “This, combined with the more powerful engine and more efficient aerodynamics, gives the Aprilia RS 660 Factory a top speed of 240 km/h.”
How definitive is the three-mph difference?
It is not definitive evidence that every RS 660 will outrun every CBR650R. The comparison does not establish a same-condition test of specified model years and configurations. Top-speed results can be affected by the measurement method, speedometer accuracy, rider position, wind, elevation, gearing, tires, and the exact motorcycle setup. Those factors matter when comparing figures; they are not evidence that MotoStatz controlled for them.

Use 147 versus 144 mph as a useful reported comparison, not a guaranteed real-world outcome or a universal specification. The 240 km/h figure belongs in a different evidence category: an official claim for the RS 660 Factory.
What the specifications say about the bikes
The motorcycles differ in engine layout, weight, and standard equipment, but the specification figures below come from different markets and source documents. They are not a like-for-like specification sheet for one model year.

Honda’s U.S. 2024 specifications should not be combined with the figures from Honda España’s current CBR650R E-Clutch listing as though they describe one universal configuration. The Spanish listing identifies the E-Clutch version and gives 70 kW (95 CV), 63 Nm, and 211 kg kerb weight; its model year is not explicit in the surfaced specification content. Likewise, Aprilia’s 240 km/h claim is specifically for the RS 660 Factory, while the technical PDF supplies RS 660 specifications. Before applying any comparison to a bike you are considering, confirm its model year, market, trim, and equipment. Weight labels such as “wet,” “kerb,” and “curb” also come from the individual source conventions, so avoid treating numbers from separate markets as perfectly standardized measurements.

What the comparison means for a buyer
- For the narrow top-speed question: MotoStatz’s published comparison gives the RS 660 a three-mph edge, but does not establish a controlled, same-condition result.
- For the Factory specifically: Aprilia claims 240 km/h for the RS 660 Factory; that claim should not be generalized to every RS 660.
- For a broader spec comparison: The RS 660’s cited technical sheet lists a 105 HP parallel twin and extensive standard electronic rider aids. The 2024 U.S. Honda release identifies a 649cc inline-four and its weight, braking, transmission, and fuel-capacity details, but does not state engine output.
- For a particular motorcycle: Compare specifications for the exact year and market rather than mixing Honda’s U.S. and Spanish figures or applying Factory claims to another Aprilia trim.
