How far can the Hiboy C1 travel on a single charge?
Hiboy claims up to 21.7 miles in pure-electric mode and up to 26.2 miles with pedal assist. These are manufacturer figures, not results from an independent, controlled test. Hiboy says actual range varies with rider weight, terrain, weather, tire pressure and riding style.

That makes the headline maximum a poor basis for planning a commute that nearly uses the full claimed range. Speed, hills, load and how much you pedal can change the outcome, and the available evidence does not establish a typical distance for a particular rider or route. If you need a dependable round trip, allow a substantial buffer or look for an independent test that matches your route, load and riding mode.
Is the Hiboy C1 worth buying?
It may suit a rider who values a folding frame, removable battery and compact wheels for short trips, especially when indoor charging or storage is useful. The battery can be removed for charging, but folding alone does not establish that the bike is easy to carry: Hiboy’s reviewed page does not state its weight or a reliable folded size. Confirm those measurements with the seller if you need to lift it onto transit, carry it upstairs or store it in a specific space.
The 230 lb (105 kg) maximum load is a manufacturer specification, not a recommended target for every rider and cargo combination. Check your total load and whether the bike’s fit suits your height before ordering; the available product information does not establish a universal fit range.

There is no independent controlled test in the sources available here to confirm the C1’s real-world range, ride quality, reliability or braking performance. Treat Hiboy’s specifications as claims to verify against your needs rather than as proof of how the bike will perform on your route.

Can I ride the Hiboy C1 without using the motor?
The C1 has pedals, but that does not guarantee a comfortable or useful ride with the motor off. One Reddit owner said pedaling was difficult; that is a single account and cannot establish how the bike will feel for other riders. If you expect to pedal for exercise, conserve battery or finish a trip after a charge runs low, try the bike in person or seek a credible ride report before buying.
Is the Hiboy C1 waterproof?
No. Hiboy lists an IPX4 water-resistance rating and says the bike is designed to handle light rain and road splashes during normal riding. IPX4 does not mean submersible, and it is not a promise that every component will remain dry in heavy rain or flooding. Avoid submerging the bike, and follow the supplied manual’s guidance on wet-weather use and care.

What should you check before buying?
- Fit and carrying: Confirm the bike’s weight, folded dimensions and adjustability with the seller; the reviewed product page does not state dependable values for the first two.
- Range needs: Compare your route with Hiboy’s claimed maximums, but do not plan a trip that depends on reaching them without a route-specific test.
- Pedaling: If motor-off riding matters to you, assess pedal comfort rather than assuming the pedals provide useful exercise or an easy backup.
- Service and parts: Ask a local bike shop whether it will service this model and confirm the exact C1 version and component markings before ordering a battery, tube, tire, charger or electrical part. Compatibility and replacement-part availability were not established in the reviewed material.
- Weather and charging: Treat IPX4 as splash resistance, not waterproofing. Use the charger and battery-care instructions supplied with your own bike.
- Safety: Hiboy recommends wearing a helmet; follow local e-bike rules and use appropriate protective equipment.
What do owners report about repairs and support?
A Reddit participant described using a C1 for a roughly 6-mile each-way commute, charging at work, difficulty pedaling, a loose crank arm and a wait for a replacement wheel. A later comment in the discussion says the owner damaged rear-wheel wiring during a tube replacement. This is one owner’s account, not evidence of a typical failure rate or company-wide support experience; it does highlight why tire repairs on an electrically connected rear wheel may call for careful instructions or qualified service.

Battery charging and storage
Hiboy lists a 5–6 hour charging time. A secondary-host transcription of a C1 manual advises using the recommended charger, not covering the battery while charging, avoiding deep discharge, and storing a long-idle battery at 60–80% charge with periodic charging. Because that guidance comes through a transcription rather than the manufacturer’s manual page, use the manual supplied with your specific bike as the authority.
