Which features should you confirm on the actual bike?
Hero’s product page lists dual-channel ABS, ride modes, ETB on the ETB version, a drag race timer, a multicolour LCD, LED lighting and cruise control among the 4V features. Because product pages can describe equipment across variants or model years, use this list to form questions rather than assume every item is fitted to the motorcycle in front of you.
Ask for an equipment-by-variant confirmation
- Ask whether the quoted vehicle is the 4V or 4V ETB, and whether it has electronic throttle body/ride-by-wire.
- Ask which ride modes are present on that exact model year and how the rider selects them. Check the owner information or dealer demonstration rather than inferring the controls from a general feature list.
- Confirm the ABS configuration for the actual variant. The 4V product material lists dual-channel ABS, while the separate standard Xtreme 160R page describes single-channel ABS; do not conflate the two.
- Check that the display, lighting and any advertised timer or cruise-control feature are included on the quoted unit. Have the salesperson demonstrate the controls you expect to use.

How to compare the variants for your use
Do not decide from the ETB label or styling alone. Compare the two variants against the same priorities and the actual specification sheets for the model year being sold. The brochure supplies component and dimension figures, but it does not establish that one version will suit every rider better.
Equipment and controls
If ride-by-wire or a particular ride mode matters to you, make it a gating question: verify its presence on the specific motorcycle before comparing prices. Ask to see the relevant control or display behavior, and confirm whether the salesperson is describing the 4V generally or the ETB version specifically. Avoid paying a premium based on an assumed feature bundle.
Braking and suspension
Confirm the brake and ABS specification from the variant-specific material. On a test ride, if available, assess how the brakes respond at ordinary, safe speeds and whether the front and rear suspension feel manageable on the surfaces you normally use. Rider fit and passenger use
Sit on the exact motorcycle before deciding. Check whether you can reach the controls naturally, whether the balance feels manageable while stationary and at walking pace, and whether the riding posture suits the trips you expect to make. If you regularly carry a passenger, have them assess the seat and foot placement in person when possible. Hero promotes a single seat on its product page, but that description is not independent evidence of comfort for a particular rider or passenger.

Compare quotes only when they cover the same city, variant, registration basis, insurance choices and accessories. Then check the practical ownership details: warranty booklet, service schedule, nearest authorized workshop, delivery timing and any equipment or connectivity terms that apply. A lower headline figure may not describe the same bundle or the same final cost.
Get a useful, itemized on-road quote
Ex-showroom price is only one part of the amount due. Ask a dealer in your city for a dated, itemized quote for the precise 4V variant. Hero’s Mumbai page notes that road tax, registration, insurance and accessories affect on-road cost, and advises buyers to check with a local showroom for an exact quote. City prices and dealer stock can change, so a figure shown elsewhere is not a substitute.

Request these line items
- The exact model name, variant and model year, plus the date the quote was prepared.
- Ex-showroom price and the registration/RTO or road-tax charges used for the calculation.
- Insurance provider, cover selected, premium and any optional cover included.
- Each accessory or add-on, with its price and whether it is optional or required for the quoted offer.
- Any discount or offer, its conditions and expiry, if applicable.
- If financing is involved, the loan amount, rate, fees, term, instalment and any conditions attached to the offer.
- Availability, expected delivery date and what happens if the quoted variant is not available.
Compare like with like. For example, a quote that includes accessories and a different insurance selection cannot be compared directly with one that omits them. Ask the dealer to revise the quote if you want to evaluate a different insurance option or remove optional accessories. Keep the dated version you accept with your purchase documents.

Hero provides a test-ride route on its site. Availability depends on the local dealer, so ask whether you can ride the exact variant you intend to buy. If the offered test bike is a different variant or model year, do not treat its equipment demonstration as proof of what your purchased unit includes.

Compare the model name and variant on the quote with the vehicle being shown. Confirm whether it is the 4V or 4V ETB, and ask the dealer to identify its model year and equipment.
- Settle the basic fit. Sit in your usual riding position, reach the controls and assess whether the bike feels manageable while stationary. If passenger use matters, evaluate the passenger position as well.
- Check low-speed control. On a permitted, safe test-ride route, pay attention to balance, clutch feel and throttle response at low speed. If the bike feels difficult to control, ask for another demonstration or take time to consider whether it suits you.
- Assess braking and ride comfort. Use ordinary, controlled braking on the route and notice the feel at both ends. Observe how the suspension behaves on normal road surfaces; do not attempt risky manoeuvres to test a motorcycle.
- Check the cockpit. Confirm that the display is legible to you and that you can understand the controls you expect to use. Ask the dealer to demonstrate any relevant ride mode, timer or other advertised feature.
- Inspect the sale unit. Before payment or delivery acceptance, compare the actual motorcycle’s variant and supplied equipment with the written quote and specification. Ask for any mismatch to be corrected on the paperwork.
A test ride helps answer subjective questions—fit, balance, control feel and comfort—that a specification sheet cannot. It does not validate the brochure’s acceleration claim, establish fuel economy, or replace checking the exact vehicle and its paperwork.

Warranty, servicing and ownership questions
Hero’s standard Xtreme 160R product page states that its motorcycles come with a warranty of five years or 70,000 km, whichever comes first. That is a manufacturer statement on the standard-model page, not a substitute for the current warranty booklet for the precise 4V variant you are buying. Confirm the term, conditions, start date, exclusions and required maintenance directly with the dealer and the supplied warranty documents.
The 2023 Xtreme 160R 4V Pro owner-manual search-result excerpt advises using authorized workshops and the recommended service schedule for warranty benefits. Confirm the applicable service schedule for your model year and retain service records. Do not assume that a manual for the 4V Pro establishes every detail for another 4V variant or year.
Before committing, ask the dealer
- Which warranty booklet and service schedule apply to this model year and variant?
- Where is the nearest authorized workshop, and how should scheduled service be booked?
- What maintenance actions and records are required to preserve warranty benefits?
- Does any advertised feature have a separate equipment, connectivity or subscription condition?
- Is the quoted motorcycle physically available, and what delivery date is being promised?
Availability, current offers, loan terms and dealer stock for a particular city or buyer are not established by the manufacturer pages described here. Obtain those details from the dealer and read the terms that apply to your transaction.
What is not established about mileage or performance?
Hero’s 2026 brochure publishes the 0–60 km/h figure of 4.5 seconds; treat it as the manufacturer’s claim, not independent test data. The available material does not establish an independent real-world mileage figure. Hero’s general mileage language is not a measured consumption result, so do not use it as a guaranteed fuel cost or range estimate.
The 12 L tank figure is capacity, not a claim about distance per tank. Actual fuel use depends on conditions and use, and a meaningful estimate for your situation would require a clearly identified test or owner data that is not established here. If fuel economy is central to your decision, ask local owners or seek a clearly described independent test for the same model and variant rather than treating an unqualified number as a promise.
