Ford vehicles sold in the United States are assembled in more places than the badge on the grille suggests. Some are built in Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, and Ohio. Others come from Mexico, Canada, or China.
The list below refers to final assembly—the country and plant where the completed vehicle is put together. It does not mean every component was made there. Engines, transmissions, batteries, and other parts can come from several countries.

Kansas City Assembly builds both the Transit family and some F-150s. That means two identical-looking F-150s on a dealer lot may have different final-assembly plants: one may have been built in Dearborn and another in Claycomo.
Ohio Assembly handles Ford’s medium-duty trucks, E-Series commercial chassis, and Super Duty chassis-cab models. Those are not assembled at the same plant as every Super Duty pickup.
Ford models assembled in Mexico
Ford’s Hermosillo plant builds both the Bronco Sport and Maverick. The Mustang Mach-E is built at Ford’s Cuautitlán plant near Mexico City.

These vehicles are not exceptions caused by a single low-volume trim. Mexico is the regular final-assembly location for these U.S.-market models. The Bronco Sport should not be confused with the larger Bronco, which is assembled in Michigan.
Where Lincoln vehicles are made
Lincoln’s U.S.-market lineup is split between American, Canadian, and Chinese assembly plants.

Important qualifications for 2026
Super Duty production is expanding to Canada
Super Duty assembly has traditionally been associated with Kentucky Truck Plant and Ohio Assembly. Ford is adding F-Series Super Duty pickup production at Oakville Assembly Complex in Ontario, with production beginning in 2026.
As a result, it is no longer accurate to describe every 2026 Super Duty pickup as being assembled in Kentucky or to broadly say that all F-Series trucks are assembled in the United States. The exact answer depends on the vehicle’s model year, body style, and production run.
F-150 Lightning availability is in transition
Ford’s Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn is the designated plant for the F-150 Lightning. However, Lightning production and ordering plans have changed as Ford adjusts its electric-vehicle strategy and prioritizes gas and hybrid F-Series demand.
For a Lightning advertised as new or ordered during this transition, check the window sticker and VIN rather than relying only on the model name or a general plant list.

Assembly location is not parts content
A vehicle assembled in Michigan is not necessarily made entirely from U.S. parts. Federal vehicle-labeling information reports several separate figures:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Final-assembly country
- U.S. and Canadian parts content
- Engine origin
- Transmission origin
Those figures can differ substantially from one vehicle to another. Ford said that 83% of the vehicles it sold in the United States in 2025 were assembled in the U.S.; that statistic refers to assembly, not to the percentage of each vehicle’s parts that came from American factories.
How to check where a specific Ford was built
The model-level list is useful, but it cannot settle every vehicle-specific question. Production can be split between plants, and changes can occur during a model year.
- Ask for the vehicle’s window sticker. On a Ford window sticker, look near the bottom for the field labeled Final Assembly Plant.
- Check the VIN. The VIN identifies the individual vehicle and is more useful than assuming every example of a model came from the same factory.
- Confirm the body style. A Super Duty pickup, chassis cab, and medium-duty truck can have different assembly locations even when their names overlap.
- Check the model year and production date. This matters particularly for Super Duty trucks, F-150 Lightning, and vehicles affected by plant or product changes.
- Use the federal label data carefully. For 2026 AALA data, US means United States, M means Mexico, CN means Canada, and CH means China.
The last two codes are easy to confuse when copied into informal vehicle-shopping tables: CN is Canada, while CH is China.

Check the window sticker for the “Final Assembly Plant” field and verify the vehicle’s VIN. This is more reliable than using a general model-production list, especially for vehicles assembled at multiple plants or during a production change.
The Bottom Line
Ford’s U.S.-market vehicles are assembled in a mix of American, Mexican, Canadian, and Chinese plants. The Bronco, Mustang, Ranger, Explorer, F-150, and several SUVs are assembled in the United States, while the Bronco Sport, Maverick, and Mustang Mach-E come from Mexico. The Lincoln Nautilus is assembled in China, and Super Duty production is expanding to Canada in 2026.
For an individual vehicle, do not stop at the badge or model name. Check the window sticker’s Final Assembly Plant field and confirm the VIN.
