A current Kelley Blue Book estimate puts a 2023 Tesla Model Y’s resale value at $30,300 and its trade-in value at $29,300. KBB reports that the vehicle depreciated $17,576, or 36%, over three years. These are estimates, not guaranteed sale prices; the value of a particular Model Y depends on its details and local market.
What is a three-year-old Tesla Model Y worth?
Kelley Blue Book’s live valuation page, accessed October 8, 2026, reports a current resale value of $30,300 and a trade-in value of $29,300 for the 2023 Model Y. KBB also reports $17,576 in depreciation, or 36%, over three years. See KBB’s 2023 Model Y depreciation estimate.
The resale figure is not a promise that an owner will receive $30,300. It is a valuation estimate, and KBB says its depreciation estimates compare private-party values for similar vehicles and incorporate Manheim auction data forecasts. Local market factors, weather and driver performance can affect actual depreciation.
Resale value versus trade-in value
Resale, or private-party, value estimates what a seller might receive in a direct sale to another buyer. Trade-in value estimates what a dealer might offer when taking the vehicle as part of a transaction. The two figures describe different types of transactions, so compare like with like when considering an offer.

Edmunds provides a separate example for a 2025 Model Y: approximately $39,678 private-party or $37,227 trade-in for a clean-condition vehicle with no options and about 12,000 miles per year. - Model year and trim: The estimates above cover different model years, and trim affects the appraisal.
- Mileage: Edmunds’ 2025 example assumes approximately 12,000 miles per year; a vehicle with different mileage may receive a different estimate.
- Condition: The Edmunds example assumes clean condition. A vehicle in a different condition will not match that example’s assumptions.
- Options: The Edmunds example assumes no options; equipment can affect the appraisal.
- Location and market: KBB says local weather and market factors affect actual depreciation.
How to estimate your own Model Y’s value
- Choose the right transaction type. Get a private-party estimate if you plan to sell directly, or a trade-in estimate if you are considering a dealer offer.
- Enter the exact vehicle details. Use its model year, trim, mileage, options and condition in a current appraisal tool, rather than relying only on a broad model-year figure.
- Use a local estimate. Local market conditions can affect what a vehicle is worth in your area.
- Compare offers on the same basis. Where available, compare multiple offers for the same vehicle and transaction type. An estimate is not the same as a completed sale price.
