Hennessey has reported the Venom F5 exceeding 270 mph during development, but the manufacturer’s cited material does not establish a completed, independently verified run above 300 mph. Its often-quoted 328 mph is a simulated theoretical top speed, not a speed the car has achieved on a run.
What is the Venom F5’s top speed?
The clearest answer is that the F5 has a manufacturer-reported development speed of more than 270 mph; a verified maximum top speed above 300 mph is not established by the cited Hennessey announcements. In February 2024, Hennessey said it was still seeking a sufficiently long runway or public road to safely attempt a run beyond 300 mph. Hennessey’s development update described the car as having exceeded 270 mph.

That distinction matters: a development speed is an achieved test figure, while a target is a goal and a simulated speed is a calculated estimate. None by itself is proof of a measured maximum-speed record.
Why is 328 mph associated with the Venom F5?
Hennessey described 328 mph as the Venom F5’s simulated theoretical top speed in a February 20, 2024 announcement. Founder and CEO John Hennessey clarified the context: “Our hypercar has a simulated theoretical top speed of 328mph, but we’re certainly not chasing that number. Breaking 300mph in two directions is this year’s goal, while hitting 500km/h (310.8mph) in one direction would be the ultimate way of celebrating the internal combustion engine!”

The 328 mph figure is therefore a simulation, not a completed run. The two-way 300 mph figure was a stated goal for 2024, and 310.8 mph in one direction was described as an ambition. Hennessey’s announcement does not report that either goal was achieved. Read the February 2024 announcement.
How to interpret the other Venom F5 speed figures
Several figures circulate alongside the top-speed claim, but they describe different tests and variants. They should not be compared as if they were all measured maximum speeds.
| Variant or figure | Reported speed or result | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Venom F5 development test | More than 270 mph | Manufacturer-reported speed reached during development; not described as an independently verified maximum-speed record. Hennessey, 2024. |
| Venom F5 simulated figure | 328 mph | Simulated theoretical top speed, not a completed run. Hennessey, 2024. |
| Coupe standing half-mile | 219.07 mph | Speed at the end of a standing half-mile event, not the car’s maximum top speed. Hennessey, 2024. |
| Revolution at Circuit of the Americas | 193.10 mph | Back-straight speed during track activity; the reported 2:10.90 lap is a circuit result, not a top-speed record. Hennessey, 2024. |
| Roadster | Engineered to exceed 300 mph | Manufacturer capability claim, not a demonstrated maximum-speed run in the cited material. Hennessey product description. |
| F5 Evolution | 2,031 hp; 0–200 mph in 10.3 seconds | Power and acceleration claims in the April 2025 announcement; no new maximum-speed result is stated. Hennessey, 2025. |
What do the Coupe, Roadster, Revolution and Evolution figures mean?
Coupe
The fixed-roof Coupe is the version associated with Hennessey’s ultimate top-speed objective. Hennessey has reported it exceeding 270 mph in development and separately reported a 219.07 mph standing half-mile result. The latter is a measurement from a specific acceleration event, not a maximum-speed test.
Roadster
Hennessey describes the open-top Roadster as engineered to exceed 300 mph. That is a manufacturer claim about capability; the cited product material does not document a completed run at that speed.

Revolution
The Revolution is the track-focused F5 variant, with changes to aerodynamics, suspension, cooling and telemetry. Its reported COTA back-straight speed and lap time describe track performance, not a maximum-speed record.

Evolution
Announced in April 2025, the Evolution adds power and updates to aerodynamics, suspension and comfort. Hennessey specified 2,031 horsepower and a 10.3-second 0–200 mph time, but did not announce a new top-speed result. Those figures describe power and acceleration, not maximum speed.

The cited manufacturer material does not establish that it has. Hennessey’s February 2024 announcement called breaking 300 mph in two directions a goal for that year; its development update reported more than 270 mph and said the company was still looking for a suitable place to pursue a safe run beyond 300 mph. The searched material also does not provide independent timing-body confirmation of a 300-plus mph F5 run. That does not prove no such evidence exists elsewhere; it means the claim is not substantiated by these announcements.
A documented record claim would need to identify the date, car and configuration, measured speed, course and direction, timing method, and who verified the result. Until such a result is presented, 328 mph should be called simulated, 300-plus mph a target or capability claim, and more than 270 mph a manufacturer-reported development speed.

An earlier Hennessey Performance announcement described 311 mph (500 kph) as a target. It was an announced objective, not evidence of a completed run. It should not be conflated with the later 328 mph simulated figure or the development report above 270 mph. Hennessey Performance’s target announcement.
