Hennessey Says Venom F5 Evolution Is the Most Powerful Internal-Combustion Road Car

Hennessey says its Venom F5 Evolution makes 2,031 bhp on Shell E85. Here’s how that claim compares with the earlier F5 spec—and what remains unverified.

Hennessey rates the Venom F5 Evolution at 2,031 bhp on Shell E85 pump fuel and calls it the world’s most powerful internal-combustion road car. That is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independently verified production-car record. The fuel wording matters: Hennessey specifies E85, and its announcement does not state an exact ethanol percentage.

What Hennessey claims about the Venom F5 Evolution

The Evolution is an updated specification of Hennessey’s Venom F5, not a separate engine concept. In its April 16, 2025 announcement, Hennessey said the package raises the car’s output from the earlier 1,817 bhp baseline to 2,031 bhp—an increase of 214 bhp. The company attributes the higher figure to its 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged Fury V8, developed with Ilmor Engineering, and specifies Shell E85 pump fuel for the rating. Hennessey’s Evolution announcement and its baseline specification page are the sources for those figures.

Hennessey lists peak power at 8,000 rpm and 1,445 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. It also reports a 0–200 mph time of 10.3 seconds. Those are manufacturer-published specifications and performance claims; the cited material does not provide independent testing to verify them.

Why “gasoline production car” needs qualification

The headline’s use of “gasoline” is imprecise for this specification. Hennessey says the 2,031 bhp figure is achieved on Shell E85 pump fuel. Its announcement does not give an exact ethanol content, so the fuel should not be described more specifically than the manufacturer does.

Likewise, “most powerful” should be attributed to Hennessey and scoped to internal-combustion road cars. The company’s April 2025 announcement calls the Evolution the world’s most powerful internal-combustion-powered hypercar; its published claim is not accompanied by an independently verified comparison across production cars. Founder and CEO John Hennessey said the Evolution followed requests from some owners for more power, but the announcement does not quantify those requests or report an owner survey.

What changes in the Evolution package

The Evolution is more than an engine-output upgrade. Hennessey describes changes to aerodynamics and a mode-adaptive suspension, as well as optional touring exhaust and seats. The company presented the package as applicable to Coupe, Roadster and Revolution models, although the cited announcements do not establish current inventory, order availability or pricing.

In an August 2025 announcement about the one-off manual Venom F5, Hennessey said future F5 builds would receive Evolution enhancements as standard and that existing owners could upgrade. That is a dated manufacturer statement, not confirmation of present build slots or upgrade status. The August 2025 announcement also discusses the Revolution LF and Maverick.

How the F5 variants differ

The Venom F5 name covers variants with different missions. Baseline figures for one version should not be mistaken for Evolution figures or transferred to another model.

Variant or specification What the cited manufacturer material says
Venom F5 baseline 1,817 bhp, according to Hennessey’s specifications page.
Venom F5 Evolution 2,031 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 1,445 lb-ft at 5,200 rpm on Shell E85 pump fuel; manufacturer-reported 0–200 mph in 10.3 seconds.
Revolution baseline Hennessey’s 2023 press kit lists 1,817 hp, 1,617 Nm maximum torque and 1,383 kg dry weight. These are baseline Revolution figures, not the later Evolution rating.
F5-M Roadster Hennessey’s September 2024 announcement describes a gated six-speed manual, 1,817 bhp and a 12-car run that it said was sold out at the time.

The Revolution is the track-focused variant. Hennessey’s January 2023 announcement described aerodynamic, suspension, cooling and telemetry changes, and announced a 24-car production limit. At that time, it listed a $2.7 million starting price. These are historical announcement details, not current pricing or availability. Hennessey’s Revolution announcement has the variant details.

The F5-M Roadster is distinguished by its gated manual gearbox. Hennessey’s September 2024 announcement listed a $2.65 million starting price and 12 units, and said the run had sold out at that time. Those figures describe the announcement, not current transaction prices or present availability. The F5-M announcement is the source for those dated details.

What the figures establish—and what they do not

The available specifications establish what Hennessey says the Evolution produces, the fuel it specifies for that rating, and how the package differs from the earlier baseline. They do not independently establish that it outranks every other production road car, nor do they provide a verified comparative dataset for that category. The most accurate description is therefore that Hennessey claims the E85-fueled Venom F5 Evolution is the world’s most powerful internal-combustion road car.
