What Helix says is different about the frame
Helix describes its bike as a titanium folder built around a one-piece main frame rather than a conventional hinge through that frame. The company says it precision-cuts titanium tubes on a multi-axis laser to achieve the frame geometry, CNC-machines titanium frame and mechanism parts, and robotically TIG-welds frames in a controlled argon chamber. Helix’s manufacturing press kit says the chamber is kept below 1 ppm oxygen and that the bike uses 27 CNC-machined titanium parts. These are manufacturer-reported process details, not independent measurements.
Helix also calls its welding approach a world first for titanium bicycles and claims to have been the first bicycle company to laser-cut titanium tubes. Those are company priority claims; the sources available do not independently establish them. Laser cutting and robotic welding describe how Helix says it makes the frame, but do not by themselves demonstrate greater strength, lower weight or better ride quality.
How the bike folds and what it is designed to do
The official site describes 24-inch wheels, a patented locking mechanism, removable dropouts and compatibility with components such as disc brakes and wide-range cassettes. Helix says the dropout design can support different drivetrain approaches, including single-speed, derailleur, internal-gear-hub and electric configurations. Confirm compatibility against the exact bike and part before planning a replacement or upgrade; the general description does not establish that every option fits every build. Helix says the folded bike can roll on its front wheel and stand on its own. A 2025 company news article gives folded dimensions of 23 × 25 × 9.5 inches; those dimensions are manufacturer-published and may depend on configuration. The 2025 dimensions announcement is the source for that figure.
The company positions the bike for commuting, utility riding, excursions, touring and travel. Its listed accessories include a custom-fit travel case, rear pannier rack and full-coverage mudguards. Their presence on the official site does not establish current stock or compatibility with every configuration.
Build levels and listed weights
Helix’s specifications page lists Foundation, Performance and Ultralight builds. The weights below are manufacturer-listed figures, not results from independent weighing. Helix says specifications, models and equipment can change without notice and that listed frame and bike weights may differ from final production. Helix’s homepage advertises a limited 2026 electric-assist preorder release, while a Taiwan distributor page lists a Helix Standard as in stock. These are time- and region-specific listings, not evidence of general availability. Check Helix’s current product listing and the Taiwan distributor listing directly for local stock, equipment and ordering details.
The Taiwan listing describes a 3Al-2.5V titanium frame and fork, Shimano Deore 10-speed drivetrain and a listed weight of 10.61 kg, and identifies Canada as the place of manufacture. That is one regional listing and should not be treated as the specification or stock status for every market.
Company-reported development and manufacturing history
Helix says it began developing its folding-bike design in 2015 and delivered its first bikes in 2019. The company describes production as taking place in Canada. These dates and the manufacturing location are company-reported history, rather than an independently documented chronology.
