For some buyers, a used Lexus LC 500 may now cost less to enter than a new one—but that does not make every example affordable to own. Edmunds estimates a 2024 LC 500 coupe’s retail value at $88,476, while Lexus lists the 2026 coupe at a $101,800 starting MSRP including delivery, processing, and handling. Those are different model years and different kinds of figures, so they show a possible lower used-car entry point, not a measured depreciation rate or a universal affordability threshold.
What does a used Lexus LC 500 cost?
As an example, Edmunds’ October 4, 2026 valuation page estimates a 2024 Lexus LC 500 coupe at $88,476 retail. That is a valuation estimate, not a guaranteed sale price or a promise that a particular listing is worth that amount. Edmunds notes that vehicle values vary with region, condition, mileage, and options. See the Edmunds 2024 LC 500 appraisal.
Keep the body style and powertrain straight when comparing figures. Edmunds’ estimates for 2024 list the convertible at $93,044 retail and the LC 500h hybrid at $93,008 retail. The LC 500h is a separate hybrid model, not the V8 LC 500. The same valuation source also provides private-party and trade-in estimates; those are different measures from retail value and should not be substituted for a dealer’s asking price.
How does that compare with a new LC 500?
Lexus announced a $101,800 starting MSRP for the 2026 LC 500 coupe, including delivery, processing, and handling, on July 18, 2025. On those figures, the Edmunds estimate for the 2024 coupe is $13,324 below the 2026 starting MSRP. This is a simple comparison between one used-car estimate and a newer model’s manufacturer’s suggested price—not a like-for-like depreciation calculation, and not proof of the price a buyer will pay. Lexus’ 2026 LC 500 announcement describes the coupe’s naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8.

The convertible has its own price baseline: Lexus announced a 2026 LC 500 Convertible starting MSRP of $109,300, including delivery, processing, and handling. Lexus also announced a North American Inspiration Series limited to 350 units. Do not use the coupe’s used valuation to estimate a convertible’s price or treat a limited series as representative of ordinary inventory. Details are in Lexus’ 2026 LC 500 Convertible announcement.
Historical MSRPs help explain the context, but do not establish a current used price. Lexus announced the 2018 launch model at $92,000 before a $995 delivery, processing, and handling fee. The manufacturer described that car as a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 producing 471 horsepower and 398 lb.-ft. of torque. Those are launch specifications and pricing, not inflation-adjusted values or a guide to every later model year. See Lexus’ January 9, 2017 announcement for the 2018 LC 500.

For another model-year snapshot, Lexus announced a $93,050 starting MSRP for the 2022 LC 500 before a $1,075 delivery, processing, and handling fee. Its announcement also noted suspension refinements and an available Sport Package with a Torsen limited-slip rear differential, Yamaha performance damper, performance brake pads, and Alcantara-trimmed seats. That is not a complete feature history; check the equipment on the individual car. See Lexus’ 2022 LC 500 pricing announcement.
Does depreciation make it affordable to own?
No single purchase price answers that. Kelley Blue Book estimates $61,704 in five-year depreciation and $72,897 in five-year out-of-pocket costs for a 2025 Lexus LC 500. KBB’s displayed cost categories include fuel, insurance, financing, state fees, maintenance, and repairs. These are estimates, not guaranteed future expenses. Edmunds’ True Cost to Own estimates also include depreciation, insurance, financing, taxes and fees, fuel, maintenance, and repairs. Its methodology says mileage-dependent costs assume 15,000 miles per year. When comparing cost estimates, match the trim and mileage where possible and account for region and financing assumptions; providers’ estimates are not interchangeable universal totals. See Edmunds’ True Cost to Own methodology.
Your own budget will depend on the exact car’s service history and condition, annual mileage, fuel use, insurance quote, financing, taxes and fees, and any repair costs. The cited estimates do not establish model-specific reliability rates, and a Lexus badge alone is not evidence of low repair risk.

How to judge whether a particular LC 500 is affordable
Use the valuation as a starting reference, then assess the exact listing rather than deciding from a model-year headline. The available figures do not establish market-wide transaction prices by model year, mileage, or region, so a buyer should compare live examples and the car’s documentation.

- Confirm what the car is. Identify the model year, LC 500 V8 or LC 500h hybrid, and coupe or convertible. Compare like with like.
- Identify the price measure. Distinguish a dealer’s asking price from a retail valuation, a private-party estimate, or a trade-in value.
- Check the individual vehicle. Review mileage, title and accident history, maintenance records, condition, equipment, and warranty status. A valuation cannot establish that a specific car is sound.
- Build a full ownership budget. Get an insurance quote for the exact car and your location, then account for expected mileage, fuel, financing, taxes and fees, maintenance, and a reserve for possible repairs.
- Compare the total, not just the discount. Decide whether the used car’s price and expected ongoing costs fit your budget; do not treat the gap between a used estimate and new MSRP as savings you are certain to realize.
What the available figures establish—and what they do not
- They provide an example of a used V8 coupe valuation below the starting MSRP of a newer coupe: Edmunds’ $88,476 estimate for a 2024 LC 500 coupe versus Lexus’ $101,800 starting MSRP for the 2026 model.
- They show why coupe, convertible, and hybrid prices should be kept separate: the cited 2024 Edmunds retail estimates differ by variant.
- They do not establish a controlled depreciation rate, a market-wide affordability cutoff, current transaction prices across regions and mileage bands, or reliability statistics.
- They do not tell you whether a specific car has been maintained well or what its future repair costs will be.
