Acura has not publicly confirmed that it postponed an NSX successor. What the company and Honda have announced is a next-generation Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype and a wider program of new hybrid models, with launches planned from 2027. The SUV announcement does not identify the prototype as an NSX or establish a successor’s schedule.
Has Acura postponed the next NSX?
There is no confirmation of an NSX postponement in the Acura and Honda announcements reviewed here. They do not name an affected NSX project, give an original or revised date, or set out a successor timetable. The delay claim should therefore be treated as unconfirmed, not as an established change to Acura’s product plan.

Hybrid SUV Prototype
On May 14, 2026, Acura revealed its next-generation Hybrid SUV Prototype. Acura describes it as combining a hybrid SUV platform with a newly developed electric all-wheel-drive unit. It is a prototype, not a production model with published final specifications, and Acura has not identified it as an NSX. Broader hybrid rollout
Acura said the prototype previews one of 15 new Honda and Acura hybrid models planned globally, primarily for North America, by 2030. It expects to begin launching its first models using an all-new hybrid system and next-generation platform within two years of its May 14, 2026 announcement. That is Acura’s stated expectation for its first models, not a confirmed launch date for this prototype or a named production vehicle.
Honda’s schedule and targets
Honda’s May 14, 2026 business briefing gives the broader program more detail. The company plans to begin next-generation hybrid launches in 2027 and targets 15 models globally by the end of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2030. The rollout is intended to focus primarily on North America; the 15-model figure is a Honda plan, not a guarantee that every model will launch on schedule. Honda said its next-generation e:HEV models are intended to improve fuel economy by more than 10%. That is a company target for the next-generation models, not an independently measured result or a final specification for the Acura prototype. Why the NSX question remains separate
Acura’s announcements concern a hybrid SUV and the company’s broader next-generation hybrid rollout. Honda’s targets and dates apply to its planned hybrid program, not to an announced NSX. Until Acura or Honda directly identifies an NSX project and confirms a change to its timing, the available announcements do not support saying the NSX was postponed.
