What happened in the Cardup crash?
PerthNow reported that at about 5:55pm on 12 October 2014, a 27-year-old Baldivis man was riding a black Harley-Davidson south on Kargotich Road when it collided with the rear of a Mitsubishi Triton turning right onto Orton Road. He was taken to Armadale Hospital and died a short time later, according to the report. PerthNow’s report was published on 13 October 2014.
How was the Bunbury driver injured?
In a separate crash in Donnybrook on 12 October, an 18-year-old Bunbury man’s Ford collided with a white Isuzu utility. PerthNow reported that the Ford’s driver was trapped and had to be cut free. An RAC helicopter flew him to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries. The 68-year-old Isuzu driver was reported to have minor injuries.
What is known about the causes and outcomes?
The 2014 report describes the vehicles’ movements and the collision sequence, but it does not establish legal fault or provide a later police, court or official investigation finding. It should therefore be read as contemporaneous reporting, not as a determination of responsibility or a current case update.

The article also relayed a historical comparison from Road Safety Council chairman Professor Murray Lampard: Western Australia had 12 more road fatalities at that point in 2014 than at the same point the previous year. PerthNow did not provide the underlying dataset, reference dates or methodology for that comparison, so it is not a current road-fatality statistic.
