Fratello and Monochrome reported 300 pieces and a launch price of €995; those are historical launch details, not a current resale quote. It is also different from the later Black Tangerine, a separate 100-piece edition whose official Depancel listing is marked sold out.
What the original Tangerine is
Depancel’s Série-R Tangerine brings automotive cues to a square wristwatch: a layered blue dial with orange accents, grille-like vertical engraving and chronograph registers, paired with a blue perforated leather strap finished in orange stitching. Fratello writer Jorg Weppelink summed up the high-contrast palette by writing, “The combination of blue and orange makes it hard to miss.”

Monochrome describes the original’s case as brushed and polished stainless steel, topped with sapphire crystal. Applied luminous markers, a recessed center and the contrasting chronograph hands add depth to the dial rather than leaving it as a flat block of color. The result is a watch whose racing inspiration is expressed through color, texture and perforations, not simply through its chronograph function.

How the square case is likely to fit
At 36 mm wide, the watch may sound modest if compared with round watches by diameter alone. A square case occupies more wrist across its corners than a round case of similar nominal width, and its 48.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement is another useful fit reference. Its 13.3 mm thickness also gives it some height above the wrist.
Weppelink reported that the watch was comfortable on his 19 cm wrist, while noting that a larger square watch could feel different to someone accustomed to smaller watches. That is one reviewer’s wearing impression, not a fit guarantee for every wrist. If possible, compare the 48.5 mm lug-to-lug span and the case’s corner-to-corner footprint with a watch you already wear.
Movement and chronograph operation
The original Tangerine uses the Peacock SL-4801, which Fratello and Monochrome describe as a Chinese-made, integrated automatic chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Both 2024 articles state a 60-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. These are the reported specifications for the original Tangerine, not figures to transfer automatically to every Série-R variant.
Fratello’s reviewer characterized the movement finishing as basic and said the start, stop and reset clicks were clearly defined. Those are his observations of the watch he reviewed, rather than a general performance assessment or a durability finding.
Water resistance and everyday use
The original’s rating is 50 m / 5 ATM. Fratello cautions that this does not make it a watch for underwater adventures. The rating should not be read as an invitation to use this chronograph for diving; follow the manufacturer’s care guidance and have seals checked as appropriate for the watch’s condition.

Monochrome reports quick-release spring bars on the original Tangerine’s blue perforated leather strap, which can make removal easier. The supplied evidence does not establish the original’s lug width, so do not assume a replacement will fit based only on a width quoted for another edition.
Depancel’s later Black Tangerine page specifies a 22 mm lug width, but that specification belongs to that separate variant. Before ordering a strap for an original blue-and-orange Tangerine, confirm its width and check the end shape and attachment arrangement against the specific watch.
Original Tangerine versus the later Black Tangerine
The shared Série-R name and Peacock movement can make the two editions easy to confuse. Their edition counts and reported power reserves differ, and the current official page is for the Black Tangerine, not the original blue-and-orange model.

Depancel’s official Black Tangerine listing is the source for that later edition’s specifications and status. The page describes its dial as a two-level design with bold vertical lines reminiscent of vintage racing-car air vents; that is the brand’s description of the Black Tangerine listing.
Launch price and availability today
Fratello and Monochrome reported that the original 300-piece Tangerine launched at €995 in 2024; Monochrome also reported US$995. These are launch-era prices, not a verified current asking price. The currently found official listing is for the separate Black Tangerine, which Depancel marks sold out. Neither that page nor the 2024 launch coverage establishes whether the original Tangerine is currently available from a seller or what it should cost on the resale market.
