What is the Gunther Werks F-26?
The F-26 is a 993-based Porsche 911 restomod, not a standard Porsche production model. Gunther Werks says it will build 26 examples worldwide. Its carbon-fiber bodywork reinterprets the 911 with styling cues from the Porsche 930 Flachbau and 935, while retaining a 993 steel chassis as the foundation. Gunther Werks’ F-26 program page presents the car as a limited build; it does not establish how many production slots remain.
How much horsepower does the Gunther Werks F-26 make?
Gunther Werks’ current specification lists 1,000 hp at 7,600 rpm and 750 lb-ft of torque at 5,600 rpm. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-six was co-developed with Rothsport Racing. A six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential send power to the rear wheels. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independently measured test results. Why do some reports say 1,067 bhp?
Autocar reported 1,067 bhp on July 9, 2026, in connection with the F-26’s planned Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb appearance. That differs from Gunther Werks’ current published figure of 1,000 hp. The available reporting does not establish whether the numbers reflect a revised engine tune, a different measurement basis, or a reporting discrepancy, so they should not be treated as interchangeable. Is the F-26 really air-cooled?
Gunther Werks calls the flat-six air-cooled and specifies a flat-fan engine-cooling arrangement. It also lists water-to-air charge cooling for the turbo system. Those descriptions refer to different jobs: the engine’s cooling concept and the cooling of compressed intake air. So “air-cooled” describes the engine, but it does not mean every part of the turbocharged powertrain relies only on air. The company says its fan moves more than twice the air of a standard vertical fan; that is the maker’s claim, not an independently verified test result. Gunther Werks’ powertrain details.
What makes the F-26 different from a stock 993?
Chassis and running gear
Gunther Werks lists a 200% increase in chassis rigidity over the 993 and a 30 mm rearward wheelbase extension. The company’s published specifications also give a curb weight of 2,750 lb, JRZ electronic suspension, CCMR brakes, 18-inch magnesium wheels, and Continental ExtremeContact Force tires. These are manufacturer-provided specifications; the published material does not provide independent test data to validate the rigidity or performance claims. Body and cabin
The F-26’s carbon-fiber body panels and doors carry a front-end design inspired by the 930 Flachbau and 935, including fixed headlights and integrated aerodynamic elements. Inside, Gunther Werks specifies leather and Alcantara seating and a Porsche Classic radio with Apple CarPlay. How much does a Gunther Werks F-26 cost?
Top Gear reported a starting price of $1,570,000 on August 15, 2025. That is reported launch pricing, not a confirmed current quote; the current Gunther Werks F-26 page does not state a price. Is there a published acceleration time?
No verified 0–62 mph time is available in the cited material. Top Gear noted that it did not have one in its 2025 report, and Gunther Werks’ current specification page does not list an acceleration time. A figure should not be inferred from the horsepower or curb-weight claims.
