The Australian pairing completed a single pass of shakedown before tackling the opening Super Special Stage, according to RallySport Magazine in a report published 2 October 2026. They successfully navigated the stage in their Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.

The report also says the start was not entirely smooth sailing. Its available excerpt does not identify the difficulty, so there is no established basis here to describe it as a puncture, mechanical problem, penalty or any other specific incident. Nor does the accessible account provide a stage time or a finishing position.

The World Rally Championship’s official event information lists the rally in Alghero, Sardinia, from 1–4 October 2026. The event is scheduled across gravel roads.

Why Sardinia is the 2026 season finale
Sardinia became the final round after Rally Saudi Arabia was removed from the 2026 calendar. In its 17 September calendar announcement, the FIA confirmed Saudi Arabia would not form part of the season and identified Rally Italia Sardegna, scheduled for 1–4 October, as the finale. This later announcement resolves the discrepancy on an FIA results page that still displays Saudi Arabia as a later round.
