Gogoro advertised the JEGO at a US$760 starting price in March 2024, but that was an after-government-subsidy figure—not a universal sticker price or a verified current offer. The scooter’s actual cost depends on where you buy it, subsidy eligibility, battery configuration and the terms of its battery service plan. Here’s what Gogoro announced about price, range and ownership, and what buyers should verify locally.
What did the Gogoro JEGO cost?
Gogoro’s March 2024 US-facing announcement gave a US$760 starting price after government subsidies. The same announcement described a battery subscription at US$7 per month for a promotional 1,000 km allowance, conditional on prepaying for 36 months. Gogoro Taiwan’s February 2024 launch announcement listed suggested retail prices before subsidies of NT$57,980 for the single-battery JEGO and NT$59,980 for the two-battery version. It also cited a minimum NT$21,180 purchase figure based on the single-battery model and the maximum combined central and/or local subsidies. Gogoro cautioned that actual subsidies vary. The US and Taiwan figures describe different markets, currencies, subsidy assumptions and service-plan terms; they are not directly comparable. Check the current local dealer price, subsidy rules and battery-plan contract before treating either announcement as a quote.

What range and speed did Gogoro claim?
Gogoro Taiwan published a maximum claimed range of up to 119 km for the two-battery version. That figure came from a regulated dynamometer test, not an independent road test. The company also listed an instrument speed of up to 68 km/h; its stated test used a 63 kg rider, a full battery and a level paved road. Those figures are useful for understanding the model’s published capability, but they do not predict an individual commute precisely. Riders should consider their route, passenger or cargo load, local conditions and access to swap stations rather than treating the maximum range as a guaranteed distance between swaps.

How does Gogoro battery swapping fit into ownership?
The JEGO is part of Gogoro’s battery-swapping system: instead of relying only on plugging the scooter in to recharge its battery, owners use the company’s network to exchange depleted smart batteries for charged ones. The availability and convenience of that system depend on station locations and the plan offered in the rider’s market.
In March 2024, Gogoro reported more than 12,000 swap stations and 1.3 million smart batteries in Taiwan. Those are company-reported figures from that date, not verified current totals. Before buying, check whether stations serve the routes and places where you actually ride, and confirm the current subscription price, mileage allowance, prepayment requirement and contract length. What else does the JEGO offer?
Gogoro described the JEGO as an entry-level electric scooter with a revised body and frame and a direct-drive motor without belt or sprocket transmission components. Its published specifications include 77 kg weight excluding the battery, 22.3 liters of storage, a 32.5 cm footboard, a 68 cm seat, and SBS front and rear disc brakes. Is the JEGO worth considering?
The launch proposition paired a relatively low advertised entry figure with battery swapping, but the headline price alone is not enough to judge ownership cost. For a useful local comparison, check:
- The purchase price after subsidies you personally qualify for, including the battery configuration.
- Practical range for your routes and whether swap stations are convenient where you ride.
- Today’s service-plan fees, mileage allowance, contract duration and payment conditions.
- Storage, passenger comfort, braking equipment and other features that matter for your use.
- Warranty, maintenance requirements and local parts and service support.
Gogoro said it received more than 6,500 fully paid preorders and began Taiwan deliveries in April 2024.
