If exterior length is the deciding factor, the 2025 GMC SUV lineup ranks from largest to smallest as follows: Yukon XL, Yukon, HUMMER EV SUV, Acadia, and Terrain. The Yukon XL is the clear length and cargo-space leader, while the HUMMER EV SUV is the widest and tallest despite being shorter than either Yukon. The Terrain is the easiest GMC SUV to fit into a tight garage or parking space.
The ranking below uses overall exterior length. Width, height, wheelbase, seating, cargo space, and towing are included because length alone does not tell the whole story when you are comparing these SUVs for family use, trailering, or garage fit.

2025 GMC SUVs ranked from largest to smallest
| Rank | Model | Overall length | Wheelbase | Width without mirrors | Max cargo volume |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | GMC Yukon XL | 225.2–225.6 in. | 134.1 in. | 81.0 in. | 144.7 cu. ft. |
| 2 | GMC Yukon | 210.2–210.5 in. | 120.9 in. | 81.0 in. | 122.9 cu. ft. |
| 3 | GMC HUMMER EV SUV | 206.7 in. | 127.0 in. | 86.46 in. | 81.8 cu. ft. behind the first row |
| 4 | GMC Acadia | Approximately 204.0 in. | 120.9 in. | 79.6–80.0 in. | 97.5 cu. ft. |
| 5 | GMC Terrain | 181.0 in. | 107.5 in. | 74.5 in. | 63.5 cu. ft. |
These dimensions are based on GMC’s 2025 model-year specifications. Small differences can occur between trims, especially with height and overall length. Width figures do not include the mirrors, so allow additional clearance when measuring a garage or narrow parking space.
1. 2025 GMC Yukon XL: largest GMC SUV
The Yukon XL is GMC’s longest SUV at 225.2 inches for the Elevation, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trims. The AT4 and AT4 Ultimate measure 225.6 inches. Its 134.1-inch wheelbase is also the longest in the range.

That extra body length is primarily useful behind the second and third rows. The Yukon XL provides up to 144.7 cubic feet of cargo volume with the seats folded and can seat up to eight people. It is the best choice in the lineup for carrying a full passenger load while retaining useful cargo room.
The tradeoff is maneuverability. At more than 18 feet 9 inches long, the Yukon XL needs a large parking space and a deep garage. Its maximum trailering rating is 8,200 pounds, which is strong but slightly below the standard Yukon’s maximum.
2. 2025 GMC Yukon: full-size SUV with a shorter body
The standard-wheelbase Yukon measures 210.2 inches in most trims and 210.5 inches in the AT4 and AT4 Ultimate. It has the same 81-inch body width as the Yukon XL but a much shorter 120.9-inch wheelbase.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Maximum cargo volume is 122.9 cubic feet, and the Yukon can tow up to 8,400 pounds when properly equipped. That makes it a more manageable alternative to the Yukon XL for buyers who still need three rows, substantial cargo capacity, and full-size towing capability.
It is still a large vehicle. The Yukon is nearly 30 inches longer than the Acadia and 29 inches wider than the Terrain, so a “shorter” full-size SUV can still be difficult to place in a compact garage.

A note about Yukon dimensions
Some GMC consumer pages show the Yukon at 210.1 inches long and list 122.8 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume. GMC’s 2025 specification sheet gives the model-year figures as 210.2–210.5 inches and 122.9 cubic feet. The specification-sheet figures are used in this ranking.
3. 2025 GMC HUMMER EV SUV: shorter than the Yukon, wider than everything else
The HUMMER EV SUV is 206.7 inches long, placing it below both Yukon versions by exterior length. It is nevertheless the most imposing GMC SUV in width and height: 86.46 inches wide without mirrors and 77.8 inches tall.
For comparison, the HUMMER is almost 5 inches wider than the Yukon and about 12 inches wider than the Terrain. That width matters more than its length if you are checking garage-door clearance, navigating a narrow urban lane, or parking beside concrete columns.
The HUMMER has a 127-inch wheelbase and seats five. Cargo capacity is 35.9 cubic feet behind the second row and 81.8 cubic feet behind the first row. Its power eTrunk adds up to 11.3 cubic feet of storage. With a maximum towing rating of 10,000 pounds, it has the highest trailering capacity in GMC’s 2025 SUV lineup.
It is often described as GMC’s largest SUV because of its width, height, and visual bulk. By length, however, the Yukon XL is nearly 18.5 inches longer.

4. 2025 GMC Acadia: the largest crossover SUV
The redesigned 2025 Acadia is approximately 204 inches long, with a 120.9-inch wheelbase. It is only about 2.7 inches shorter than the HUMMER EV SUV, although it is considerably narrower and lower.
The Acadia is approximately 79.6 to 80.0 inches wide without mirrors, depending on configuration, and its height ranges from about 70.97 inches in Elevation trim to 72.03 inches in AT4 trim. It seats up to eight and offers 23.0 cubic feet behind the third row, 57.3 cubic feet behind the second row, and 97.5 cubic feet behind the first row.
With the available Trailering Package, the Acadia can tow up to 5,000 pounds. It is a useful middle ground: substantially more spacious than the Terrain, but less physically demanding than a Yukon or Yukon XL.
Do not use the old Acadia dimensions
Previous-generation Acadia specifications commonly list an overall length of about 193.4 inches. That number does not describe the larger three-row 2025 Acadia. For 2025, use the approximately 204-inch figure when planning garage or parking clearance.
5. 2025 GMC Terrain: smallest GMC SUV
The 2025 Terrain is the shortest GMC SUV at 181.0 inches long. It has a 107.5-inch wheelbase and is 74.5 inches wide without mirrors. The 2025 Elevation is listed at 66.1 inches high with a sunroof.

It seats five and provides 29.8 cubic feet of space behind the rear seat or 63.5 cubic feet with the rear seat folded. Those figures are much smaller than the Acadia’s, but the Terrain’s more compact footprint makes it the easiest GMC SUV to use in a tight garage or crowded city parking area.
Towing depends on the drivetrain and trim. GMC lists a maximum of 1,500 pounds for the 2025 Terrain with all-wheel drive and 800 pounds for the front-wheel-drive Elevation.
2025 Terrain trim clarification
GMC announced the Terrain AT4 and Denali as 2026 model-year vehicles. They should not be counted as 2025 Terrain trims in a model-year comparison.
Which 2025 GMC SUV is biggest in each measurement?
| Measurement | Winner | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Overall length | Yukon XL | Requires the most parking and garage depth |
| Width | HUMMER EV SUV | Needs the most lateral clearance |
| Height | HUMMER EV SUV | Most demanding for low garage doors and parking structures |
| Maximum cargo volume | Yukon XL | Best for bulky loads and passengers together |
| Maximum towing | HUMMER EV SUV | Rated for up to 10,000 pounds |
| Smallest exterior footprint | Terrain | Easiest to park and fit into a smaller garage |
How much larger is each GMC SUV?
The size gap is most noticeable between the Terrain and the three-row models. The Acadia is about 23 inches longer than the Terrain and offers 34 cubic feet more maximum cargo volume. Moving from the Acadia to the standard Yukon adds roughly 6 inches of length, but the Yukon is much wider, taller, and more heavily built.

The HUMMER EV SUV is slightly shorter than the Acadia, but its 86.46-inch width makes it a more difficult vehicle to place in a narrow garage than its length ranking suggests.
