A hybrid GV70 has not been confirmed in the official announcements reviewed, so there is no established release date, market availability, or specification for one.
Is the Genesis GV80 Hybrid out yet?
Yes. Hyundai Motor Group announced the GV80 Hybrid launch in Korea in 2026, calling it the first Genesis hybrid. The announced Korean price is 76.8 million won at a 5% individual consumption tax rate; it is not a North American or global MSRP. Check local Genesis announcements for pricing and availability in other markets.
Genesis’s August 13, 2026 newsroom archive entry had said the group’s next-generation hybrid system would debut in the GV80 Hybrid, then scheduled for launch the following month. The subsequent Korean launch announcement confirms the launch. Neither announcement establishes a hybrid GV70 schedule.
What is distinctive about the GV80 Hybrid system?
Liquid-cooled battery and expanded electric operation
Hyundai Motor Group describes a liquid-cooled hybrid battery intended to support higher maximum discharge output and more active battery use. The company says it expanded the motor-driven operating range, using electric drive more actively after startup, at speeds through approximately 30 km/h, and in stop-and-go urban conditions. The stated goals are quieter operation and smoother acceleration; this description is not a measured real-world fuel-economy result.

Manufacturer-reported acceleration comparison
Hyundai Motor Group says its research center measured re-acceleration from 100 km/h as approximately 18% faster than in the GV80 2.5 gasoline turbo. This is the manufacturer’s comparison, not an independent test. The launch material does not provide a fuel-economy figure.
What hybrid-specific features does it offer?
Hybrid Terrain Performance on AWD models
Hybrid Terrain Performance (HTP) is described for all-wheel-drive versions. If the vehicle determines that motor-only output is insufficient during a low-speed escape on a slope or unpaved surface, it may add engine power. Terrain modes also manage battery state of charge.

Route-aware energy and braking controls
Hierarchical Predictive Control (HPC) uses predicted route and road conditions to manage battery charge and operating modes. Smart regenerative braking uses navigation information, including speed cameras and following distance, to adjust regenerative braking.
Stay mode and vehicle-to-load power
Stay mode uses the high-voltage battery for cabin comfort and multimedia functions without starting the engine. Hyundai Motor Group specifies vehicle-to-load (V2L) output of up to 3.6 kW. The company says V2L can operate continuously while the engine is running and, in Stay mode, can be used down to 30% battery state of charge from an initial 80%. These are manufacturer-described specifications, not independently verified test results.

When is the Genesis GV70 Hybrid coming out?
There is no confirmed GV70 Hybrid launch date in the official sources reviewed. Genesis’s November 2024 North American announcement covered the redesigned 2026 GV70 and Electrified GV70, saying those models would reach North American retailers in the first half of 2025. It did not announce a hybrid GV70. That announcement cannot be used to infer a hybrid’s timing or specifications.
Accordingly, claims that the GV70 Hybrid will follow the GV80 should be treated as unconfirmed until Genesis announces a model, market, and schedule.

The Korean launch announcement supplies selected system details, but not a complete market-by-market specification set. Before comparing the GV80 Hybrid with another SUV or powertrain, look for official figures specific to the market and model year:
