Only one car in the available auction records is clearly documented as both a barn find and a million-dollar sale: a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy that Gooding & Company says sold for $1.54 million in 2011. A second Ferrari is documented as a barn find, but the cited account does not establish its sale price. That means the promised list of 10 cannot be verified from the available evidence.
Which barn finds sold for millions?
The strongest confirmed example is the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy. Gooding & Company described it as an “original ‘barn-find’ 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy” and reported a $1.54 million sale at its 2011 Pebble Beach Auctions. The auction house’s wording supports both parts of the claim: the car’s barn-find history and its reported sale result. Gooding & Company’s 2011 results release
That is a documented million-dollar barn find—not evidence that barn-find sports cars commonly reach such prices. No broader statistic on their frequency, average value, or returns is established by these auction records.

1963 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider
Gooding Christie’s account says the car was discovered untouched in Van Kregten’s garage and entered the company’s 2009 Scottsdale auction as an unrestored survivor and barn find. Senior Specialist David Brynan later called it “a car we discovered and sold as a barn find back in 2009.” The available passage confirms its discovery and auction history, but gives no sale price. It therefore does not establish that this car sold for more than $1 million. Gooding Christie’s account

Why the biggest Ferrari auction prices are not barn-find records
Headline auction prices can show the scale of the collector-car market, but they do not prove how a car was discovered. The cited records report these two high-value sales without identifying either car as a barn find:
| Car | Reported result | What the source establishes |
|---|---|---|
| 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO | $48,405,000 at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction, 25 August 2018 | A reported auction sale; the cited source does not classify the car as a barn find. RM Sotheby’s sale report |
| 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider Competizione | $25,305,000 at Gooding Christie’s Pebble Beach auction in 2025 | A major reported auction result; the cited release does not establish a barn-find history. Gooding Christie’s release |
These are useful comparisons for Ferrari auction values, not additional entries in a list of million-dollar barn finds. A price record and a discovery story are separate claims, and each needs its own support.

What makes a car a verified million-dollar barn find?
“Barn find” describes a car’s discovery or storage history. On its own, the label does not establish condition, originality, provenance, restoration costs, or market value. To count a car in a list of million-dollar barn finds, the evidence should independently establish both its discovery history and a completed sale above $1 million. An estimate, an exceptional price for a different car, or a barn-find account without a reported result is not enough.
On that standard, the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy qualifies in the cited records. The California Spider’s discovery is documented, but the supplied sale-price evidence is incomplete. The cited material does not substantiate ten separate cars meeting both criteria.
