The FIA’s published 2027 Formula 2 calendar has 14 rounds, with Istanbul and Mexico City added and Miami absent. Istanbul is scheduled for 1–3 October and Mexico City for 29–31 October. The FIA says the additions make the schedule more balanced by shortening the gap before the final two rounds; it has not given a specific reason for Miami’s absence.
Is Formula 2 racing in Miami in 2027?
No. Miami does not appear on the FIA’s published 2027 F2 calendar, which was announced on 5 October 2026. The calendar includes 14 rounds, among them new F2 venues Istanbul and Mexico City. The FIA has not said why Miami is absent, so the calendar change does not establish that the venue has been permanently dropped or explain the decision.
Miami was on the revised 2026 calendar for 1–3 May. The FIA said the Miami and Montreal rounds arose because Sakhir and Jeddah would not take place in April. What is the full 2027 F2 calendar?
The FIA lists these 14 rounds for 2027:

Why are Istanbul and Mexico City on the calendar?
The FIA describes Istanbul and Mexico City as new venues for F2. It says adding them makes the calendar more balanced by reducing the extended gap before the final two rounds at Lusail and Yas Island. The published date ranges put the Istanbul and Mexico City weekends four weeks apart.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the additions would bring F2 to new audiences and give drivers the opportunity to compete on a wider variety of circuits. That is the stated rationale for the new venues; the announcement does not provide separate audience, economic, or viewership projections.

What does the calendar change mean for teams?
F2 and F3 CEO Bruno Michel said the championship would cover the freight costs associated with the calendar’s territorial expansion, stating: “We will be covering freight costs so that the territorial expansion of the calendar does not financially impact our teams.” This is the championship CEO’s stated plan, not independently verified accounting or a published cost estimate.
Montreal also returns after being added to the 2026 calendar. The 2027 announcement names Istanbul and Mexico City as new F2 venues and describes the additions as schedule-balancing changes; it does not detail travel logistics or quantify the effect on team budgets.
