The “arriving next week” framing in the headline reflects the timing of that March preview, not the situation today, which is October 2026.
What the headline refers to
“Forester Wilderness” points to the hybrid Wilderness model Subaru previewed. “Another new Subaru” refers to the second vehicle in the same teaser, an all-new electric SUV. The two were presented together, so they are best read as a pair rather than as one launch.
What was reported, and when
The clearest contemporary account is a Carsales article titled “Subaru teases first hybrid Wilderness and a new EV,” published on March 26, 2026. It described the two vehicles as follows:
- Vehicle one: the first hybrid Wilderness model. At the time of the report, Carsales did not know whether it would be a Forester or a Crosstrek.
- Vehicle two: an all-new EV. The report did not name it in the material available for this article.
- Timing: both were due to debut at the 2026 New York auto show, which Carsales gave as April 2 Australian time.
Carsales presented the April 2 date as its reading of the planned schedule. It was not an official Subaru release date.

Which Wilderness model it was
The March preview left the choice open between the Forester and the Crosstrek. A later Auto123 listing resolves that for the model name: it identifies a 2027 Subaru Forester Wilderness Hybrid among the New York 2026 reveals. The listing is a short index entry, so the full announcement text, specifications and trim details were not visible in the material reviewed for this article. Treat the Forester Wilderness Hybrid naming as reported by Auto123, not as confirmed by Subaru’s own press materials.
The second vehicle
The only description of the EV in the reporting reviewed is “all-new.” No name, body style, battery size, range, price or market timing was confirmed for it. Readers searching for “another new Subaru” should not assume the second vehicle is a specific model until an official Subaru announcement or a named, dated report identifies it.

Why a head-to-head comparison is not possible yet
The two vehicles were reported together, but the reporting does not give enough detail to compare them. Once official specifications are published, the useful points to compare would be powertrain and output, off-road hardware and capability, dimensions and cargo space, pricing, and availability by market. Nothing reviewed supports the idea that the EV and the Wilderness hybrid are aimed at the same buyer or offer similar capability.
