Ford’s Mobileye relationship supplies technology for driver-assistance systems, not a self-driving system. The 2020 agreement covered Mobileye EyeQ camera-sensing technology for Ford Level 1 and Level 2 features; later disclosures describe Mobileye’s road-mapping data as a cloud-enhanced part of BlueCruise. BlueCruise itself remains a supervised Level 2 system, so the driver must stay attentive and ready to take control.
What is Ford’s deal with Mobileye?
Ford and Mobileye announced a global advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) collaboration on July 20, 2020. The agreement specified Mobileye EyeQ3 and EyeQ4 sensing technology for Ford Level 1 and Level 2 systems, including features offered through Ford Co-Pilot360. Ford also agreed to identify Mobileye technology in SYNC displays.

The announcement described a technology partnership, not a transfer of responsibility for driving. Its two most relevant contributions are camera-based sensing for driver-assistance features and, in a later BlueCruise development, road information used to support lane guidance.

Is BlueCruise powered by Mobileye?
Mobileye contributes technology to BlueCruise, but the available disclosures do not establish that BlueCruise is powered exclusively by Mobileye or that Mobileye supplies every part of the system. The relationship developed beyond the EyeQ camera-sensing technology in the original agreement: Mobileye’s Road Experience Management (REM) mapping was announced for use in a future BlueCruise version, and Mobileye said on its April 24, 2025 earnings call that REMS was included in BlueCruise as cloud-enhanced functionality.

What REM mapping adds
REM provides road and lane information intended to improve lane centering and lane keeping on qualified divided highways, including roads where lane markings are not visible. That mapping role is distinct from EyeQ’s camera-sensing role. Together, the disclosures show an expanded collaboration, but they do not identify every supplier or component in each BlueCruise version.
How does BlueCruise differ from Co-Pilot360?
Co-Pilot360 is Ford’s suite of driver-assistance features; the 2020 Mobileye agreement named several Level 1 and Level 2 functions within it. BlueCruise is a separate, more specific Level 2 feature set for hands-free driving on eligible highway sections. Ford reported that BlueCruise 1.4 improves continuity around curves and in-lane stability, while version 1.5 adds Automatic Lane Change.

| Area | Mobileye contribution or Ford system | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Camera sensing | EyeQ3 and EyeQ4 specified in Ford’s July 2020 agreement | Technology for Ford Level 1 and Level 2 assistance, including the named Co-Pilot360 functions |
| Road mapping | Mobileye REM mapping; REMS described as included in BlueCruise in April 2025 | Cloud-enhanced lane information intended to support lane centering and lane keeping on qualified roads |
| Hands-free highway assistance | Ford BlueCruise | A supervised Level 2 system; hands-free operation does not make it autonomous driving |
Is Ford BlueCruise autonomous driving?
No. Ford identifies BlueCruise as Level 2 driver assistance. Hands-free operation means the driver may take their hands off the wheel under the system’s conditions; it does not mean they may stop supervising the road. Ford says drivers must maintain full attention and be prepared to resume control at any time. BlueCruise should not be described as Level 3 or Level 4 autonomy.

Which Ford and Lincoln vehicles have BlueCruise?
Ford’s 2025 report said BlueCruise 1.4 was factory-deployed on 2025 Ford F-150, F-150 Lightning and Expedition vehicles, as well as the 2025 Lincoln Navigator. That is a dated deployment statement, not a complete list of every model, trim, market or model year that may support BlueCruise. The 2020 Mobileye agreement likewise does not provide a model-by-model list of vehicles with EyeQ technology.

Where is BlueCruise available, and how widely is it used?
Availability and deployment vary by date and market. Ford’s February 2, 2026 explanation said BlueCruise was available on 97% of controlled-access highways in the United States and Canada, and that Ford and Lincoln customers used it in 17 countries. Ford also reported 1.2 million BlueCruise-equipped vehicles and more than half a billion miles of highway travel.
For Europe, Ford announced European Commission approval in July 2024 that allowed BlueCruise use in 15 European countries. That describes the approval at the time of the announcement; country availability can change.

What the partnership does—and does not—establish
The public milestones describe a progression from EyeQ camera sensing for Ford’s driver-assistance features to REM mapping as cloud-enhanced BlueCruise functionality. They do not provide a complete component-level account of BlueCruise, a comprehensive current vehicle-eligibility list, or evidence that the system can drive without an attentive human supervisor.
