Ford projected that its supercharged 7.3-liter Megazilla 2.0 would produce more than 1,000 horsepower—but that is an announced target, not a verified production rating or independent dyno result. Ford introduced the engine on January 30, 2025, for competition use; its current listing for a different, naturally aspirated Megazilla does not establish the 2.0’s price or availability.
What is Ford’s Megazilla 2.0?
Megazilla 2.0 is Ford’s announced supercharged version of its 7.3-liter V8 crate engine. Ford Performance described the engine in a January 30, 2025 announcement as a competition-use powerplant aimed at applications such as desert-racing pre-runners and drag cars. Ford’s announcement calls the engine “Megazilla 2.0.”
The announced hardware includes a Gen 6 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, forged pistons and connecting rods, a steel crankshaft, ported and polished cylinder heads, and upgraded valve springs. Ford’s director of vehicle personalization and performance parts, Kim Mathers, said the combination was “projected to produce more than 1,000 horsepower.”
How much horsepower does the Megazilla 2.0 make?
Ford projected more than 1,000 hp, but the announcement does not establish a final production specification or a measured output. The available information does not provide an independently verified dyno result, torque rating, boost pressure, compression ratio, or dyno chart for Megazilla 2.0. Treat “1,000 hp” as Ford’s projection, not a confirmed rating.

Is Megazilla 2.0 available, and how much does it cost?
Ford forecast that ordering would open through dealers or Ford Performance Parts in Q4 2025. That forecast has passed, but current orderability, inventory, final price, and a Megazilla 2.0 part number are not established by the available product information. Check with Ford Performance or a dealer for current status rather than assuming the forecast confirms availability.
Ford’s current M-6007-MZ73 product listing is for a different, naturally aspirated Megazilla. Its listed $25,295 retail price applies to that engine, not Megazilla 2.0.

Is the Megazilla 2.0 street legal?
Ford explicitly described Megazilla 2.0 as for competition use only, citing desert-racing pre-runners and drag racing as examples. That is the manufacturer’s stated intended use; it is not a universal legal ruling for every jurisdiction or installation. The specific emissions warning on Ford’s M-6007-MZ73 listing applies to that separate engine, so it should not be presented as a 2.0-specific legal determination.

The name can cause confusion because Ford also lists a naturally aspirated 7.3-liter crate engine as “Megazilla.” The figures and parts below belong to the M-6007-MZ73 listing, not to the supercharged Megazilla 2.0.

Ford lists CNC-ported aluminum heads, Mahle forged pistons, Callies H-beam rods, a production steel crank, a high-performance camshaft with VCT delete, and a cast-iron block for M-6007-MZ73. Its listing also says that engine requires custom calibration and references control packs, a starter, and FEAD parts. Those details are not confirmed specifications or fitment guidance for Megazilla 2.0.
Ford’s separate M-6007-73B 2024 Super Duty crate engine listing reports 430 hp and 485 lb-ft. It is another distinct 7.3-liter engine, not Megazilla 2.0.
What Ford has not specified for Megazilla 2.0
- A final rated horsepower or torque figure backed by a published dyno chart.
- Boost pressure, compression ratio, engine dimensions, or a part number.
- Price, warranty, current inventory, or a confirmed ordering configuration.
- A compatibility list or approved control-pack and installation setup.
These missing details matter when planning a swap or comparing crate engines. The announced output alone does not establish fitment, required supporting components, or road-use eligibility.
