Carbon Piranha is the name associated with Vision148’s project to restomod RS500 chassis 148. The August 2024 coverage presented it as a single donor-based build, rather than a new production run of RS500s. Hagerty UK’s report and Carscoops’ report described the planned work and club connection.
Can you buy the RS500 restomod?
Not in the usual way described at the time: Carscoops reported in August 2024 that the build was associated with Auto Vision Club, with members offered a chance to own the completed car. That points to a club-linked opportunity, not a confirmed public sale or a conventional order book. The report did not disclose a completion date, and the available reporting does not establish whether the car has since been completed, sold, or transferred, or whether the membership arrangement remains active. Treat any present-day offer or claim of availability as unverified unless confirmed directly by Vision148 or Auto Vision Club.
What work was planned?
The reports described a sequence of specialist work, but they do not establish that each announced stage was completed.

- Body and styling: The plan called for carbon-fiber reconstruction, with Yasid Design developing the styling.
- Assembly: The Digital Manufacturing Centre was named for final assembly.
- Engine: Cosworth was to rebuild or upgrade the two-liter turbo engine.
These are reported project plans, not confirmed specifications for a finished car. No completed output figure for Carbon Piranha is established by the cited coverage.
How it relates to the original RS500
The RS500 was a homologation version of the Sierra Cosworth. Motor1 reported in 2024 that 500 units were produced and that the road car made 224 PS. Those are historical figures attributed to that outlet, not verified specifications for Carbon Piranha or primary-source Ford figures. Motor1’s report provides that context.

Don’t confuse it with the continuation cars
CNC Motorsport’s continuation touring cars are a separate RS500-related project, not Vision148’s Carbon Piranha restomod. Top Gear reported on the CNC Motorsport project in September 2024. Its report should not be read as an update on chassis 148 or the Auto Vision Club ownership opportunity.
