The Ford Nugget High Roof is designed to make colder-weather camping more practical: it replaces the pop-top’s fabric roof with a fixed, insulated one, and Ford describes it as winter-ready. But that is a manufacturer claim, not proof of comfort at a particular temperature. The “sub-$100K” price refers to a European launch-era conversion, not a confirmed U.S. price.
What the High Roof changes for camping
The key difference from a pop-top Nugget is overhead shelter. Ford says the fixed roof is solidly insulated and positions the High Roof for year-round use. That may make it a more appealing option when nights are cold or weather is unsettled, but the available specifications do not establish how warm the cabin stays, the heater’s output, or a safe or comfortable minimum temperature.
New Atlas reported that a camp heater is standard, but equipment can vary by market and configuration. Check the current order sheet for the specific vehicle rather than assuming every listed feature applies to every High Roof.
Bed and standing room
For the Swiss-announced model, the upper bed measures 2.05 m by 1.30 m—5 cm wider than the pop-top bed. With that bed folded up, Ford lists 2.09 m of interior standing height. These are interior measurements; they do not give the van’s exterior height or confirm clearance for garages, car parks, or other height-restricted routes.

Layout and everyday use
The Nugget’s three-zone concept puts the kitchen at the rear, a lounge at the front that converts into a lower bed, and an upper sleeping area. New Atlas describes a 120 x 190 cm lower bed, plus a gas hob, sink, and drawer refrigerator. Confirm that equipment and the bed configuration are included in the vehicle you are considering.
High Roof layouts: wardrobe or integrated toilet
Ford Switzerland lists two High Roof interior configurations. The Titanium layout has a wardrobe and 911 L of storage; the Active layout integrates a toilet and has 711 L of storage. Both list 70 L of overhead kitchen storage and a 53 L fresh-water tank.

The storage difference is 200 L in Ford Switzerland’s figures. If you choose the wardrobe layout and want onboard toilet access, a portable camping toilet is one option, but confirm available space and secure storage with the seller; no specific model fit is established here.
What the Nugget High Roof costs—and where
The under-US$100,000 framing comes from a European launch report, not a U.S. market price. In August 2025, New Atlas reported a German starting price of €82,645.50 for the High Roof launch configuration and converted it to approximately US$96,575 at publication. That conversion was not a Ford U.S. price and does not establish U.S. availability.

For a separate, market-specific reference, Ford Switzerland’s announcement dated 16 September 2026 lists CHF 72,410 including VAT for a Nugget Titanium L2 and CHF 75,760 for the fixed-roof version. Ford states that the High Roof adds CHF 3,350. These Swiss prices apply to the stated models and market; they are not universal prices.
Vehicle size and payload considerations
Ford describes the High Roof as an L2 long-wheelbase model measuring 5.45 m in length. For the Swiss-announced configuration, Ford lists a curb weight of 2,820 kg and a maximum gross vehicle weight of 3,300 kg. The difference is 480 kg for occupants and equipment before accounting for specification differences; actual remaining payload depends on the final vehicle and what is carried. Ask the dealer for the payload of the exact vehicle, especially if travelling with several occupants, water, and camping equipment.

The cited specifications do not provide the High Roof’s total exterior height. Get the exact figure for the vehicle and check it against the places you plan to park or drive.

The choice turns on the kind of trips you expect to take. The fixed insulated roof is the more relevant feature if you want to camp beyond warm-weather months; the pop-top’s fabric roof is the contrasting design. Ford’s year-round positioning is not an independent cold-weather test, so buyers who need dependable performance in particular temperatures should ask for technical details beyond the marketing claim.

- Consider the High Roof if the fixed roof, extra 5 cm of upper-bed width, or 2.09 m standing height with the bed stowed matters more to you than a lower overall vehicle profile.
- Compare against the pop-top if exterior height, route access, or your preferred sleeping arrangement is decisive. Confirm both vehicles’ exact exterior dimensions and bed specifications locally.
- Choose the layout deliberately: the Swiss-listed wardrobe configuration offers more storage, while the Active configuration includes an integrated toilet.
- Compare local, like-for-like prices with taxes and equipment specified. The German launch conversion and Swiss price are not substitutes for a quote in your market.
