Some Ford Focus RS500 auction results have approached or exceeded the U.S. starting MSRP of a new 2026 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray—but that does not mean every RS500 is worth more than every new Corvette. The comparison depends on the specific car, its sale date and currency, and whether you are comparing an auction result with a manufacturer’s sticker price.
What the RS500 sales show
The available records document four individual sales, not a single market-wide value. Two UK auction results are in pounds; two results recorded by Hagerty are in U.S. dollars. Because they involve different cars, dates, mileages, and markets, they should be read as separate examples rather than a price trend.
| Reported result | Sale date and source | Example details |
|---|---|---|
| £48,214 | 25 September 2025, Iconic Auctioneers | Car number 456 of 500; UK right-hand drive; approximately 22,200 miles at cataloguing. The listing includes a Heat Wave Yellow Matte body-color entry. |
| £65,250 | 12 November 2022, Iconic Auctioneers | Car number 160 of 500; UK-supplied, right-hand drive; 6,857 miles from new, with documented service history. |
| $68,155 | 3 December 2023, Hagerty past-sale record | Reported Collecting Cars sale; listed mileage of 9,720 km. |
| $57,227 | 25 May 2025, Hagerty past-sale record | Reported Collecting Cars sale for a VIN-identified example; listed mileage of 9,950 km. |
The pound-denominated results cannot be directly ranked against the dollar-denominated results without choosing an exchange rate and conversion date. Nor are auction sale prices equivalent to advertised asking prices or a new car’s MSRP. The records establish that particular RS500s have sold for substantial sums; they do not establish what an RS500 is worth today as a whole.
What makes the Focus RS500 unusual
Ford’s historical account describes the RS500 as a 500-car limited edition, with each car carrying an individual production number. The model made its world premiere at the Leipzig motor show on 9 April 2010. Ford characterized it as the strongest front-wheel-drive RS of its period.

Ford lists the turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine at 257 kW (350 PS) and identifies a specially developed Quaife limited-slip differential on the driven front axle. Those are Ford’s figures and units; PS should not be silently relabeled as SAE horsepower. Other listings give figures around 345 bhp or horsepower, so comparisons should name the source and unit rather than treating the numbers as interchangeable.
How it compares with a new Corvette
Chevrolet’s U.S. page lists the 2026 Corvette Stingray at a starting MSRP of $70,000. That price excludes destination freight charge, tax, title, license, dealer fees, and optional equipment. It is a new-car list-price benchmark, not a transaction price.

On the evidence available, the 2023 Hagerty-recorded RS500 result of $68,155 is close to that starting MSRP, while the 2025 result of $57,227 is lower. The UK results are £48,214 and £65,250; comparing either with $70,000 requires a dated currency conversion and still would not make the two figures the same kind of price. The defensible headline-level conclusion is narrower: certain RS500s have recorded prices near or above the starting MSRP of a new U.S. Corvette Stingray, but not all RS500s necessarily do.

The RS500 is a limited-run, front-wheel-drive hot hatch. The Stingray MSRP is for a current new sports car in the U.S. The comparison is useful as a snapshot of rarity and pricing, not as a direct measure of equivalent vehicles: one side is a handful of used-car auction outcomes, and the other is a manufacturer’s starting price before listed charges and options.

Condition, mileage, provenance, sale location, and the date of sale matter when interpreting a collector-car result. The auction listings themselves show different mileage and history details, and the 2025 Iconic listing’s color entry is a reminder not to assume every example has the same finish. Without a broader set of matched sales and a stated exchange-rate date, a universal current value or an all-RS500s-versus-all-Corvettes verdict would overstate what these figures show.
