The Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck won the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb overall, completing the course in 8:53.553 with Romain Dumas at the wheel. Ford’s 2024 race report describes the electric demonstrator as a 1,600-horsepower machine—not 1,400 hp—and says it recovered from a technical problem that forced Dumas to stop and reset its systems.
How fast did the SuperTruck climb Pikes Peak?
The official 2024 results list Dumas and the Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck (EV) first overall and first in the Pikes Peak Open division, with a time of 8:53.553. The event’s official results establish the placing and elapsed time.
That final-course time is different from the truck’s Open-class qualifying result. Ford reported a qualifying time of 3:32.831, a record more than seven seconds faster than the 3:39.939 mark set by Ford’s SuperVan 4.2 in 2023. The two times refer to separate runs and should not be compared as though they were the same event. Ford’s race report says the SuperTruck was the fastest of 61 competitors.
How much horsepower did it have?
Ford’s 2024 race report gives the SuperTruck 1,600 horsepower. The 1,400-plus-horsepower figure belongs to a different Ford demonstrator: the Super Mustang Mach-E described in Ford’s 2025 article. It should not be applied to the Pikes Peak SuperTruck. Ford’s 2025 Super Mustang Mach-E report identifies that vehicle separately.

The available sources do not provide a complete motor, battery, or drivetrain specification for the SuperTruck, so its stated power figure alone does not establish how its components compare with those in a production F-150 Lightning.
What happened when the truck stopped?
Ford says a technical issue interrupted Dumas’s run and brought the truck to a complete stop. He performed a full system reset, then continued up the mountain and won. Ford estimates that the stop cost about 26 seconds compared with his initial qualifying time; that is Ford’s estimate, not an adjustment to the official 8:53.553 result.

What was the SuperTruck?
It was a Ford Performance electric race demonstrator inspired by the production F-150 Lightning and developed with STARD. It was purpose-built for competition, not simply a production Lightning with a power upgrade. Ford’s material establishes the inspiration and program connection but does not give a full parts-sharing or platform breakdown.
Ford said the demonstrator’s aerodynamic features were designed to generate 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph. That figure is Ford’s stated design target; it should not be read as an independently verified measurement in every driving condition.

Ford also said lessons from the Pikes Peak program would inform powertrain research and development, including production-vehicle software calibration and battery-cell chemistry. Those are stated development aims, not proof that a particular production feature resulted from the program.
What race equipment did it use?
Ford credits STARD with helping create the 1,600-horsepower truck and reports that it used Sparco racing harnesses and safety equipment, along with bespoke Pirelli P-Zero tires. Ford does not identify an exact tire model, specification, or consumer fitment, so these race items are not a basis for recommending equipment for a road-going Lightning.
