These are manufacturer ratings, not independent test results. The figures distinguish the engines on paper, but they do not establish which is the better choice for every buyer. Compare the engine offered on your chosen trim and configuration with the truck’s intended workload.
What the published ratings do—and do not—tell you
Ford advertises a maximum available 40,000 lb gooseneck tow rating for Super Duty. That is a configuration-dependent maximum across the line, not a diesel-only rating and not a promise that every F-250, F-350 or F-450 can achieve it. Check the rating for the exact truck configuration and towing setup.

The specifications cited here do not provide a complete like-for-like comparison of price, fuel economy, towing capability or lifetime cost between the standard and High Output engines. The horsepower and torque ratings alone are not enough to determine which version best fits a particular job.
Check availability on the truck you plan to buy
- Choose the model and configuration. Start with the Super Duty model, trim and other build choices you need.
- Confirm the engine in that build. Check whether the standard or High Output 6.7L Power Stroke is offered for that specific configuration; availability is not necessarily uniform across trims.
- Verify the relevant ratings for the complete truck. For towing, use the rating tied to the exact configuration and equipment rather than the line’s maximum advertised figure.
Why the answer differs outside the United States
Ford’s global 2026 sustainability reporting identifies diesel vehicles in other regions and lists B20 for U.S., Canadian and Mexican Super Duty pickups and chassis cabs. That information does not establish a complete 2026 retail lineup for every country. Models and engines sold elsewhere should be checked against specifications for that market and model year rather than inferred from the U.S. Super Duty list.
