What BlueCruise does—and where it works
BlueCruise is a hands-free highway-driving assistance feature that builds on Adaptive Cruise Control and lane centering. Under supported conditions, it can manage steering, braking and acceleration. Depending on the vehicle and BlueCruise version, features may also include lane-change assistance, automatic lane changes or in-lane repositioning; availability varies.

Hands-free operation is limited to designated Blue Zones: prequalified sections of divided highways. Ford’s current U.S. page describes a network covering more than 130,000 miles of North American roads. Check whether your Ford can use BlueCruise
A subscription alone does not add BlueCruise to a vehicle that lacks the required equipment. Ford lists Mustang Mach-E, F-150, F-150 Lightning, Expedition and Explorer among models with availability, but eligibility depends on model year and configuration. Check the vehicle identification number (VIN) in your Ford Account or Ford app to see whether your vehicle is equipped and what plan status or offer applies. Ford’s setup guidance is to add the VIN in the Ford app, connect the vehicle, enable Lane Centering with Hands-Free and any other available settings, then activate Adaptive Cruise Control while driving on a highway. Hands-free mode is available only when the Blue Zone icon appears and operating conditions are met. Exact menus and requirements can differ by vehicle.
Expedition-specific requirements
The 2026 Ford Expedition owner’s manual additionally identifies modem activation, the driver’s seatbelt, Automatic Emergency Braking, visible lane markings and keeping eyes on the road among its operating requirements. BlueCruise still requires an attentive driver
BlueCruise is Level 2 driver assistance, not self-driving and not a crash-avoidance system. Ford says drivers must keep their eyes on the road, remain engaged and be ready to take control at any time. The driver-monitoring system tracks eye gaze and head position and can issue escalating audio, visual and haptic alerts when attention leaves the road. Ford’s BlueCruise explanation
Ford lists heavy rain, snow, fog, poor visibility, blocked sensors, poor lane markings, unsuitable lane width, construction zones and sharp curves among conditions that can impair or prevent operation.
