Grit Overland’s 2022 GO A/T was a high-roof, all-wheel-drive Ford Transit 148 camper conversion built around movable fixtures and off-grid systems. Its “autonomy” meant staying self-sufficient away from hookups—not automated driving. The design’s central idea was to fold, remove, or stow features when they were not in use, freeing floor space for travel and cargo.
What the 2022 GO A/T was
New Atlas reported on the GO A/T (All Terrain) on July 12, 2022, as one of Grit Overland’s Ford Transit 148 AWD camper conversions. The lower-feature sibling in that lineup was the GO Terra. The details below describe the 2022 vehicles as reported at the time; they should not be read as specifications for Grit’s currently listed Link 148.
The design rationale, attributed to Grit Overland in the New Atlas report, was: “The only time you need a bed, extra seating, shower or toilet is when someone is using them. Otherwise, they’re just taking up precious space.” That principle shaped the interior more than any single fixture.
How the flexible interior reclaimed floor space
Rather than leaving every living feature permanently deployed, the GO A/T used components that could fold, slide away, or be removed. That lets a compact van shift between travel, meals, sleeping, washing, and carrying gear without dedicating the same floor area to every activity at once.

- EXCLUSIVE WIRING UPGRADE (40-INCH 18AWG CABLES) – Unlike standard kits with short wires, our upgraded set includes 4 pcs of 40-inch (1 meter) heavy-duty extension cables. Made with thick 18AWG copper wire, this kit solves the common issue of unreachable power sources in large vans like the Transit 350 HD. It allows for flexible positioning of lights anywhere in the cargo area without purchasing extra wires.
- BUILT-IN 10A FUSE FOR CIRCUIT PROTECTION – Safety is our priority for your work van. We have added a dedicated 10A fuse to the wiring harness to prevent overload and short circuits. This professional-grade protection ensures your vehicle's electrical system remains safe even during long-term use, making it ideal for contractors, delivery drivers, and camper conversions.
- 3X BRIGHTER WORKSPACE ILLUMINATION – Transform your dim cargo area into a bright workspace. Each light assembly features 24 high-power LED chips, delivering 600 Lumens of 6000K Xenon White light (Total 2400LM per set). The high-transmittance clear lens ensures even light distribution, making it easier to find tools, load packages, or work inside the van at night.
- WIDE COMPATIBILITY & OEM REPLACEMENT – Specifically engineered to fit 2015-2024 Ford Transit 150 250 350 350HD, 2014-2023 Transit Connect, and 2022-2024 E-Transit. Directly replaces OEM part numbers: BK2Z-13776-F, BK2Z-13776-K, BK2V-13776-AC, 1811477, and more. The improved clip design ensures a tight, rattle-free fit on the roof liner.
- DURABLE & READY FOR HEAVY USE – These LED dome lights operate efficiently at 12V with just 9W power consumption. The housing is built to withstand vibration and temperature changes common in logistics vehicles, providing a lifespan of over 30,000 hours.
- Sleeping: A folding transverse bed measured 60 by 79 inches (about 152 by 201 cm), according to the 2022 report.
- Seating and dining: A passenger bench stowed against the wall, and the table could be removed when it was not needed.
- Washing: A shower pan and curtain could be deployed for use rather than occupying the floor full time.
- Toilet: A portable toilet was stored away when not in use.
- Cooking: The report described a portable induction cooktop instead of a permanently inset stove, alongside a box-style fridge.
The advantage is adaptable floor space; the trade-off is that users must deploy and put away the relevant pieces as their needs change. The 2022 report does not establish how quickly those conversions can be made in everyday use.
Sleeping capacity and seating are different questions
Grit’s reported GO A/T layout combined the transverse bed with a pop-up sleeper roof, bringing sleeping capacity to four. The GO Terra could sleep three when fitted with its optional front-seat bed. Those are sleeping figures, not a statement of how many people could travel in seat-belted seats. Before comparing vans or planning a trip, confirm the actual seat and belt arrangement for the specific vehicle.

What “autonomy” meant in the GO A/T
The 2022 report described electrical and water equipment intended to support time away from campground services. These were Grit’s reported build specifications, not results from an independent test or a guarantee of a particular off-grid duration.
Electrical system
- A 10,250-Wh lithium battery bank.
- A 3,000-W inverter.
- A 30-A shore-power connection.
- An automatic engine-start feature that Grit said could start the vehicle to charge through the alternator when the battery reached a critical level.
Battery capacity alone does not determine how long a van can run its appliances. Actual runtime depends on the loads being used, charging opportunities, conditions, and the installed system. The report did not provide independent runtime testing.

Water and heat
The GO A/T was reported to have 76-liter fresh-water and 76-liter waste-water tanks, plus carbon and UV-C filtration. Its water heater and furnace used vehicle gasoline. Filtration equipment should not be treated as a universal assurance that water collected from any natural source is safe; water quality and system maintenance matter.
Historical GO A/T and Terra prices
New Atlas reported Grit’s starting prices in 2022 as US$169,000 for the GO A/T and US$148,000 for the GO Terra. These are historical figures, not current quotes. The available information does not establish whether either 2022 model remains available, what a delivered vehicle would cost, or what equipment was included in every configuration.

Grit’s current Link 148 is a separate model listing
Grit currently lists the Link 148 in S2 and S4 versions. Its 2027 listing gives manufacturer prices and equipment that differ from the 2022 GO A/T report; do not use the Link’s specifications as a substitute for the older vehicle’s.
| Current Link 148 version | Listed price | Listed sleeping capacity | Selected listed equipment |
|---|---|---|---|
| S2 | $177,950 | Two inside, or three with optional front-seat mattress | 320-Ah heated lithium battery, 3,000-W Victron inverter, 200 W solar, alternator charging, 22-gallon fresh-water tank, 20-gallon heated gray-water tank |
| S4 | $185,950 | Four with pop-top, or five with optional front-seat mattress | 320-Ah heated lithium battery, 3,000-W Victron inverter, 210 W solar, alternator charging, 22-gallon fresh-water tank, 20-gallon heated gray-water tank |
These are Grit’s current manufacturer-listed prices and specifications for 2027 and may change; they are not independently verified performance figures. The water figures and tank types also differ from the 2022 GO A/T report, so compare the exact system rather than relying on a broad “off-grid” label.

What to check when comparing Ford AWD camper vans
AWD is only one part of a van’s capability. Ford’s 2026 Transit specifications show AWD configurations and note that payload varies with equipment and configuration. A finished camper’s remaining payload and suitability for a trip depend on its exact chassis and conversion.
- Chassis: Confirm series, engine, wheelbase, roof and body length.
- Payload: Check the finished vehicle’s capacity after conversion and the weight of passengers, water, batteries, and gear.
- Travel seating: Verify the installed seats and seat belts, rather than inferring passenger capacity from the number of beds.
- Traction setup: Compare tires and suspension as well as the AWD label.
- Living systems: Compare electrical storage, charging sources, shore-power provision, water volume, wastewater handling, and treatment.
- Purchase terms: Check model year, included equipment, warranty, and a current written price for the exact build.
