The compromises were just as clear: cramped rear quarters, limited cargo capacity and everyday controls routed through a touchscreen. His first-drive account is a useful look at the Evoque’s character, not a controlled comparison or a dedicated off-road test.
What was driven
Satterfield identifies his test vehicle as a 2025 Evoque P250 SE. The Gentleman Racer’s review describes it with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 246 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. These are specifications reported for that reviewed vehicle, rather than a claim about every Evoque configuration. The Gentleman Racer’s first-drive review
How it felt on the road
Satterfield found acceleration adequate and the nine-speed automatic smooth in its shifts. He describes the suspension as balancing comfort with agility and says the Evoque handles winding roads well. Those are his impressions from a week of driving, not independently measured performance findings.
He also says the all-wheel-drive system and Terrain Response 2 broaden the vehicle’s usefulness across varied surfaces. That supports a case for occasional light-trail use, but the account does not establish performance in a dedicated off-road test or on demanding terrain.

Is the Evoque comfortable?
In Satterfield’s assessment, yes—especially from the front seats. He describes the seating as supportive and the cabin as comfortable, restrained and well assembled. He also considers its materials and finish short of the luxury feel he associates with Mercedes-Benz or Lexus. That is a personal comparison, not a side-by-side evaluation.
The cabin’s polished look comes with a learning curve. Satterfield says the Pivi Pro touchscreen handles many vehicle functions, including fan adjustments, and that finding a setting can involve navigating menus. He warns that screen-based climate changes can draw a driver’s eyes from the road. The current U.S. Evoque page lists an 11.4-inch touchscreen, Pivi Pro and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but that live page does not verify the exact equipment fitted to this 2025 test vehicle. Rear-seat and cargo space
The first-drive review puts cargo capacity at about 21.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 50.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Satterfield describes the rear seat as tight, particularly for taller passengers. Fuel economy: estimates versus one week’s driving
The Gentleman Racer article reports EPA estimates of 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway for the reviewed Evoque, and says Satterfield averaged 23 mpg during his week with it. The first pair is presented as EPA estimates by that article; the 23-mpg figure is one driver’s reported observation, not a repeatable test result or a prediction for every owner. How much did the reviewed Evoque cost?
The review states prices of $49,900 for the S, $55,100 for the Dynamic SE and just over $62,000 for its optioned test vehicle.
