Ferrari’s One-Offs are bespoke, single-car commissions—not simply rare models. Ferrari builds each around a current model’s chassis and engine, then gives it exterior and interior specifications requested by its client. The most compelling examples stand out for their design concept, donor platform, intended use and documented development story. “Most desirable” is a matter of taste: Ferrari’s public material does not provide a common ranking or comparable market values for these cars.
What makes a Ferrari a One-Off?
Ferrari defines a One-Off as a single, unique car based on the chassis and engine of one of its current models, with exterior and interior design specifications requested by the client. That definition covers more than striking coachwork: it identifies a particular kind of client commission within Ferrari’s broader range.
Ferrari’s 2024 annual report describes the cars as built on a current model’s chassis and equipped with its engine for homologation and registration purposes, while reflecting the client’s exact design specifications. The report names commissions including the SP12 EC, F12 TRS, SP38, 458MM Speciale, P80/C, Omologata, BR20, SP48 Unica, SP51, KC23 and SP-8.
How One-Offs differ from other rare Ferraris
Ferrari’s categories can look similar from the outside, but they describe different kinds of cars. A limited production run is not a One-Off simply because it is exclusive, and a prototype is not automatically a customer commission.

- One-Off: A single client commission based on a Ferrari platform, with bespoke exterior and interior specifications.
- Icona: A limited series that reinterprets Ferrari heritage. Ferrari introduced the Monza SP1 and SP2 as its first Icona models, rather than as One-Offs. See Ferrari’s Monza SP1 and SP2 announcement.
- Limited-edition supercar: A separate product category in Ferrari’s lineup. The 2024 annual report identifies the F80, launched in October 2024, as Ferrari’s latest supercar.
- Prototype: A development vehicle used to test technologies. Ferrari notes that Special Sales has placed some prototypes with collectors, but that does not make them customer One-Offs. See Ferrari’s Special Sales feature.
Standout Ferrari One-Offs
The cars below illustrate how wide the category is: some reshape a road car for open-air driving, while others take a competition-based platform toward a dedicated track experience. The selection is editorial, not a ranking of price, rarity or collector demand.
SP12 EC: a 512 BB-inspired commission
Created in 2011, the SP12 EC is an early, well-known One-Off built around a client-requested homage to the Ferrari 512 BB. Ferrari lists it among the program’s commissions in its 2024 annual report. Its appeal lies in the way a personal historical reference becomes a distinct modern Ferrari commission; the inspiration does not make it a technical equivalent of the 512 BB.
F12 TRS: a radical open-air V12
The F12 TRS, dated to 2014 by Ferrari, reworks the F12 Berlinetta platform as a two-seat roadster. It is a clear example of a One-Off whose identity comes from transforming the character and body concept of a road car rather than simply applying a new paint scheme. Ferrari includes it among its program examples in the annual report.

SP38: a modern V8 turbo with an F40 reference
The SP38 is a V8 turbo commission inspired by the F40. That historical reference gives the car an immediate design context, but it should not be read as evidence that the SP38 shares the F40’s technical specification or performance. Ferrari lists the car in its 2024 annual report.
458MM Speciale: a commission from the naturally aspirated V8 era
Ferrari describes the 458MM Speciale as the last mid-rear model with a naturally aspirated V8, a characterization Ferrari dates to 2016. Based on the 458 platform, it anchors the One-Off story in an era before the program’s later commissions moved across a broader mix of V8 and V12 donor cars. The description and date are Ferrari’s, as recorded in its annual report.
P80/C: a track-only Sports Prototype interpretation
The P80/C is among the clearest examples of how far a One-Off can depart from a road-car brief. Based on the 488 GT3, it is a pure track car, drawing on the forms of the 330 P3/P4 and Dino 206 S. Ferrari says work began in 2015 and calls it the longest-developed One-Off to that point. Its development story, platform and track purpose are detailed in Ferrari’s P80/C feature.

SP3JC: an open-air V12 spider with classic precedents
Announced in November 2018, the SP3JC uses the F12tdf chassis and running gear as the basis for an open-air V12 spider. Ferrari presented it as an echo of the marque’s 1950s and 1960s V12 spiders, making historical reference and roofless body form central to the commission. Ferrari’s SP3JC announcement describes the platform and concept.
Omologata: a V12 commission based on the 812 Superfast
The Omologata takes the 812 Superfast as its donor platform. It shows the One-Off format applied to a V12 road car without the special track focus of the P80/C or KC23. Ferrari lists it among the program’s named examples in its 2024 annual report.

BR20: a V12 shooting-brake commission
Based on the GTC4 Lusso, the BR20 is a V12 One-Off with a shooting-brake platform. Ferrari dates it to 2021 and describes it as an elegant V12. Its donor car and body concept make it a useful counterpoint to Ferrari’s lower, more overtly sports-focused commissions. See the Ferrari annual report.

SP48 Unica and SP51: two different 2022 directions
Ferrari lists both the SP48 Unica and SP51 as launched in 2022. The SP48 Unica is based on the F8 Tributo; the SP51 uses the 812 Superfast platform and is described by Ferrari as open-air. Together, they show how a single year’s commissions could draw on different donor cars and body concepts. Ferrari’s 2024 annual report provides the dates and platform references.
KC23: a 488 GT3 Evo for non-competitive track use
The KC23 is based on the 488 GT3 Evo and is intended for non-competitive track use, not the road. That distinction matters: although it draws on a racing platform, Ferrari does not describe it as a competition entry. Ferrari’s KC23 feature reports that the 488 GT3 had recorded more than 530 victories and 119 championship wins over the platform’s history; those are Ferrari’s platform figures, not KC23 results.
SP-8: a targa-style commission with visible carbon fiber
Ferrari lists the SP-8 among its 2023 One-Offs. Based on the F8 Tributo, it takes a targa-style direction, with a visible carbon-fiber front section noted by Ferrari. The car extends the program’s road-car commissions into a body concept distinct from the open-air V12 SP3JC and SP51. See Ferrari’s annual report.

What “most desirable” can—and cannot—mean
There is no substantiated public Ferrari ranking of One-Off desirability, and the cited Ferrari material does not give a consistent set of market prices for comparing commissions. A useful comparison therefore has to be explicit about its criteria rather than presenting a subjective order as fact.
- Design concept: Does the commission make a clear departure from its donor car, as with a shooting-brake or targa-style body?
- Platform: Is it based on a road-going Ferrari, or does it begin with a competition-derived car such as the 488 GT3?
- Intended use: Is it a road car, a pure track car, or a car specified for non-competitive track use?
- Historical reference: Does Ferrari document a link to a particular earlier model or design tradition?
- Development story: Is there a documented account of an unusually long or distinctive design process, as with the P80/C?
These criteria explain why different enthusiasts may favor different cars without implying that any one commission is objectively the most valuable or universally coveted.
