Ferrari’s e-Building is a new manufacturing facility at its Maranello headquarters, inaugurated on June 21, 2024. Ferrari reported an investment of €200 million—not $214 million—and says the plant can support production of combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles and powertrain components. Its stated purpose is greater manufacturing flexibility and customization, not increased production capacity; there is no evidence that it has already shortened new-model development timelines.
What Ferrari’s e-Building is—and what it cost
The e-Building is a more than 40,000-square-meter facility at Ferrari’s Maranello site in Italy. Ferrari inaugurated it on June 21, 2024, in a ceremony attended by the President of the Italian Republic. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna told ANSA the investment was €200 million. The title’s $214 million is an approximate conversion, not an amount Ferrari reported; the cited coverage does not specify an exchange-rate date or method.
Ferrari describes the building as a flexible manufacturing space for vehicles with internal-combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains. It is also intended to make components including electric motors, batteries and axles. Ferrari’s 2025 annual filing describes it as a strategic manufacturing asset for electric technologies and vehicle assembly.

Will the plant speed up development of new Ferrari models?
Not in a way Ferrari has established with a measured development-time claim. The e-Building adds manufacturing flexibility and in-house electrification capability, but Ferrari has not said that it has already shortened the time needed to develop new cars.
Vigna described the goal as flexibility, not volume: “We don’t want to increase production capacity, but to have more flexibility to do customizations for our clients”. That distinction matters: a plant that can accommodate different powertrains and customer specifications may support how Ferrari builds cars, but it does not by itself prove faster model development.

Ferrari’s 2025 Capital Markets Day set targets of four new car launches per year on average from 2026 through 2030, and a 2030 lineup mix of 40% internal-combustion, 40% hybrid and 20% electric. Those are future corporate targets, not evidence that the e-Building caused faster launches or will deliver a particular development schedule. Ferrari’s 2025 strategic-plan materials.
How it differs from Ferrari’s New Technical Center
The e-Building and the New Technical Center are separate facilities with different roles. The e-Building is focused on flexible manufacturing and powertrain-component production; the Technical Center addition was described in Ferrari’s 2024 annual report in terms of electrification development and component testing.

The e-Building’s €200 million cost is not the same as the wider investment program announced for Maranello. In 2022, the Emilia-Romagna Region described a broader 2022–2025 site program of up to approximately €500 million and estimated 250 new employees. That broader figure covers the site program, not just the e-Building. Emilia-Romagna Region’s 2022 announcement.
