The Ferrari Purosangue pairs a naturally aspirated 6,496 cc V12 with a distinctive, response-focused drivetrain; the Aston Martin DBX707 uses a 3,982 cc twin-turbo V8 and a more conventional SUV layout. In Evo’s March 2024 comparison, the Ferrari has the higher stated peak power, while the Aston has more stated torque. Both are listed at 3.3 seconds from 0–62 mph and 193 mph, so those headline figures do little to distinguish them. The more practical choice depends on whether you value Ferrari’s unusual engineering and sharper responses or the Aston’s greater stated passenger and cargo capacity and more approachable road-test character.
At a glance: two different ideas of a performance SUV
These vehicles compete in the same broad luxury-performance category, but their specifications point to different priorities. Ferrari’s Purosangue is built around a high-revving, naturally aspirated V12 and a less conventional drivetrain layout. The DBX707 uses a smaller-displacement, twin-turbocharged V8, a nine-speed transmission and a more familiar SUV format. Those choices shape the way each is likely to appeal: one emphasizes engine character and a distinctive driving experience; the other combines substantial torque with a more conventional cabin and utility proposition.

Ferrari’s technical sheet gives the Purosangue a 6,496 cc, 65-degree V12, maximum power of 725 cv at 7,750 rpm and maximum torque of 716 Nm at 6,250 rpm. Evo’s dated comparison presents the Ferrari as producing 715 bhp and 528 lb-ft, and the DBX707 as producing 697 bhp and 663 lb-ft. These figures come from different source presentations, so the Ferrari’s 725 cv and 715 bhp should be read in their stated units rather than treated as competing specifications. Ferrari’s Purosangue technical specifications and Evo’s 16 March 2024 comparison provide the underlying figures.
| Specification | Ferrari Purosangue | Aston Martin DBX707 |
|---|---|---|
| Engine in Evo’s comparison | 6,496 cc naturally aspirated V12 | 3,982 cc twin-turbo V8 |
| Peak power in Evo’s comparison | 715 bhp at 7,750 rpm | 697 bhp at 6,000 rpm |
| Peak torque in Evo’s comparison | 528 lb-ft at 6,250 rpm | 663 lb-ft from 2,600 to 4,500 rpm |
| 0–62 mph in Evo’s comparison | 3.3 seconds | 3.3 seconds |
| Maximum speed in Evo’s comparison | 193 mph | 193 mph |
| Transmission described by Evo | Eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle, plus a front power-transfer unit | Nine-speed Speedshift |
| Seats in CarsDirect’s 2026 US comparison | Four | Five |
| Maximum cargo volume in CarsDirect’s 2026 US comparison | 17.0 cu ft | 54.0 cu ft |
The performance and power figures in the table are Evo’s March 2024 comparison, not a claim that every market or later model-year specification is identical. The seating and cargo figures are from CarsDirect’s 2026 US comparison listing; they may vary with model year or configuration. Those distinctions matter because neither source is a universal specification sheet for every vehicle offered in every region.

Engine character: naturally aspirated V12 versus twin-turbo V8
Purosangue: a V12 that makes its peak power high in the rev range
Ferrari specifies a 6,496 cc, 65-degree V12 with dry-sump lubrication. Its technical sheet lists 725 cv at 7,750 rpm and 716 Nm at 6,250 rpm. Evo gives the Purosangue’s output as 715 bhp at 7,750 rpm and torque as 528 lb-ft at 6,250 rpm. Both sources describe an engine whose stated power peak arrives at high engine speed; the figures make engine architecture and output delivery a more meaningful distinction than displacement alone.
The Ferrari’s eight-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission is paired with an unusual arrangement: a crank-driven front power-transfer unit at the front and a dual-clutch transaxle at the rear. This separates it from a conventional front-engine, single-transmission arrangement. The configuration is part of the Purosangue’s character, but the available figures do not establish that it is objectively better in every driving situation. It is a choice for buyers drawn to this specific engineering approach, not simply a route to a faster published acceleration time.
DBX707: a turbocharged V8 with the higher stated torque
Evo lists the DBX707’s 3,982 cc twin-turbo V8 at 697 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 663 lb-ft between 2,600 and 4,500 rpm. Against the Ferrari’s 528 lb-ft figure in the same comparison, the Aston has the greater stated peak torque, with its listed torque range beginning well below the Ferrari’s stated peak torque speed. That is a useful distinction when comparing the two powertrains on paper, but it does not by itself measure throttle response, gearing, traction or acceleration in all conditions.
The Aston’s nine-speed Speedshift transmission works with electronically controlled, clutch-based all-wheel drive. Evo notes that the system can send all torque to the rear axle. This is a different approach from the Purosangue’s front power-transfer unit and rear transaxle. Buyers weighing the two should focus less on the number of gears as a standalone measure and more on the complete powertrain: engine type, torque delivery, transmission and how drive reaches the wheels.

Performance numbers: why the published times do not settle the choice
Evo lists both vehicles at 3.3 seconds from 0–62 mph and a maximum speed of 193 mph in its 16 March 2024 comparison. Ferrari’s own technical sheet separately states 0–100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and a maximum speed above 310 km/h. These are source-specific figures, and the Ferrari’s metric acceleration claim is not an independent head-to-head test against the Aston. The close headline numbers show that a buyer cannot make a useful choice simply by comparing acceleration and maximum speed as presented here.
Peak power and peak torque also describe different points in an engine’s operating range; they do not tell the whole story of how a car responds. The Ferrari’s higher stated peak power in Evo’s comparison and the DBX707’s higher stated torque are useful contrasts, not a complete prediction of which vehicle will feel faster on a particular road. The sources do not provide a common instrumented test with additional measurements such as rolling acceleration, braking distances or repeatability, so those comparisons should not be inferred.
Ferrari lists the Purosangue’s maximum power in cv, while Evo reports bhp for both vehicles. Retaining the sources’ stated units avoids implying that values collected in different publications are identically presented or measured. Likewise, Ferrari’s above-310-km/h maximum-speed claim and Evo’s 193-mph figure should remain attached to the sources that publish them rather than being collapsed into a single supposedly definitive number.
Drivetrain and chassis: where their engineering diverges
Ferrari’s front power-transfer unit and rear transaxle
Evo describes the Purosangue’s dual-clutch transaxle as driving the rear wheels, with a separate crank-driven front power-transfer unit providing front-axle drive through first to fourth gears. In fifth through eighth, the car is rear-driven. This unusual division of work is a significant part of the Ferrari’s technical identity. It also means that a simple description such as “all-wheel drive” misses the way Ferrari’s system operates across the transmission’s gears.

Evo also describes the Ferrari as using active suspension technology. The material available here does not set out a complete technical breakdown of that system or a directly comparable set of suspension measurements for both cars. It is therefore safer to treat the suspension as part of the broader engineering distinction than to assume that one setup guarantees a particular ride or handling result for every driver or road.
Aston Martin’s electronically controlled AWD and adaptive chassis equipment
The DBX707 uses a nine-speed Speedshift transmission and electronically controlled clutch-based all-wheel drive, which Evo says can direct all torque to the rear axle. Evo also describes the Aston’s suspension as air springs with adaptive dampers and active anti-roll bars. Together, those details frame the DBX707 as a performance SUV using familiar SUV architecture with substantial electronic control, rather than the Purosangue’s more unusual front-unit/rear-transaxle arrangement.
Hardware descriptions can explain what is different, but they do not establish which vehicle is more comfortable, composed or capable in every circumstance. The Evo road-test impressions are useful context, but they are observations from one 2024 comparison, not a guarantee that all drivers will experience the cars the same way.
Road character: sharper Ferrari responses, more approachable Aston
In Richard Meaden’s 2024 Evo road test, the Purosangue is described as direct and immediate, with responses that reward measured inputs. The DBX707 is characterized as more conventional and approachable, with linear steering and chassis response. Meaden wrote that the Aston is “more conventional and therefore approachable,” citing steering and chassis balance with a linear response and well-judged weight. That is a journalist’s subjective assessment from the comparison, not a universal ranking or instrumented conclusion.

The practical implication is about the kind of interaction a driver wants. A buyer who enjoys an alert, distinctive response may find the Ferrari’s character more compelling, while someone who prefers a familiar, progressive feel may connect more readily with the Aston. Those are decision cues drawn from the road test, not a substitute for driving each vehicle in the configuration and conditions that matter to the buyer.
Meaden also describes the DBX707 as more family-aligned, pointing to its loftier driving position, visibility and more useful load space. He presents the Purosangue as more practical than a typical Ferrari might be, while still remaining an exotic. These impressions help explain why the vehicles can appeal to different priorities even though they share a high-performance brief.

CarsDirect’s comparison of 2026 US models lists the DBX707 with five seats and 54.0 cu ft of maximum cargo volume. It lists the Purosangue with four seats and 17.0 cu ft. CarsDirect identifies a split-bench rear seat for the Aston and bucket rear seats for the Ferrari. If carrying five people or maximizing listed cargo space is central to the purchase, these particular listing values favor the DBX707.

Confirm the exact model year and regional specification before relying on them to plan for passengers or luggage. Ferrari’s technical sheet separately lists a 473-litre boot capacity. That figure uses a different unit and may reflect a different measurement method or configuration from CarsDirect’s 17.0 cu ft figure; the available material does not establish that the two measurements are directly comparable.

There is a practical distinction between having a quoted cargo number and knowing whether the vehicle suits a real use case. Check the seating configuration and the shape and access of the load area in person if child seats, bulky luggage or regular passenger use matter. The cited figures establish stated capacity, not how easily a particular item fits or how comfortable every seat is for a given passenger.
2026 US listing prices: a substantial gap, not a universal price comparison
CarsDirect’s 2026 US comparison page lists the DBX707 at $276,500 and the Purosangue at $432,986. These are values shown by that listing, not universal prices, verified transaction costs or a guarantee of current dealer availability. Prices can depend on market, taxes, options and dealer terms; buyers should confirm the relevant local specification and current price directly with a dealer.
| CarsDirect 2026 US comparison listing | Aston Martin DBX707 | Ferrari Purosangue |

| Listed price | $276,500 | $432,986 |
| Seats listed | 5 | 4 |
| Maximum cargo volume listed | 54.0 cu ft | 17.0 cu ft |
The table is useful for comparing the same site’s stated US figures, not for establishing the full cost of ownership. No comparable current data is established here for depreciation, insurance, maintenance or total ownership costs. A purchase decision that depends on those costs requires current, market-specific estimates rather than extrapolation from the listed prices.
CarsDirect’s comparison listing identifies both entries as 2026 US models. Because its page publication date is not stated, check that its figures remain applicable before treating them as current quotes.
Which one fits your priorities?
Choose the Purosangue if the engine and engineering character lead
- You specifically want a naturally aspirated V12, rather than a twin-turbo V8.
- You value Ferrari’s unusual front power-transfer unit and rear transaxle arrangement.
- The higher peak-power figure in Evo’s comparison matters more to your decision than the Aston’s higher stated torque.
- You are comfortable with four listed seats in CarsDirect’s 2026 US comparison and a more limited listed cargo volume in that same comparison.
- You respond to the direct, immediate character described in Evo’s 2024 road test, while recognizing that this is one tester’s impression.
Choose the DBX707 if conventional usability and stated torque are stronger priorities
- You prefer a twin-turbo V8 and the higher torque figure in Evo’s 2024 comparison.
- You want the five-seat layout and greater maximum cargo volume listed for the DBX707 in CarsDirect’s 2026 US comparison.
- You value the more conventional, approachable road-test character that Richard Meaden described in 2024.
- You would rather have the Aston’s nine-speed transmission and electronically controlled clutch-based AWD than Ferrari’s separate front power-transfer unit and rear transaxle.
- The CarsDirect 2026 US listing price is more aligned with your budget, while still requiring verification against current local pricing and configuration.
What to verify before committing
- Confirm the exact model year, market and equipment level of each vehicle you are comparing. The capacity and price figures above come from a 2026 US CarsDirect comparison, while the performance and road-test information cited from Evo dates to March 2024.
- Check the passenger and luggage arrangement in the actual configuration. CarsDirect lists four seats for the Purosangue and five for the DBX707, but the relevant regional vehicle specification should decide a real purchase.
- Compare the currencies and measurement systems in the specifications you are using. Ferrari’s manufacturer sheet gives output in cv and torque in Nm; Evo’s comparison presents bhp and lb-ft.
- Arrange a drive in both cars if steering response, visibility, ride character or day-to-day usability will determine the choice. The cited road-test descriptions can guide what to pay attention to, but cannot predict every driver’s preferences.
- Request current local pricing and ownership-cost estimates. The cited listing prices are not transaction-cost guarantees, and comparable depreciation, insurance and maintenance figures are not established here.
How the broader market context helps—and what it does not prove
Ferrari’s 2025 annual report describes an enlarged luxury-performance segment that includes high-riding, four-door performance vehicles above 500 hp, and names Aston Martin among competitors. That framing helps explain why a Ferrari and an Aston Martin SUV can be compared despite their distinct engineering choices. It does not establish market share, sales performance or which model is the better purchase. Ferrari’s 2025 annual report is the source for that competitive context.
Bottom line on the key differences
The Purosangue’s defining case is its naturally aspirated V12, high stated peak power and unusual drivetrain layout; the DBX707’s is its twin-turbo V8, higher stated torque, more conventional road-test character and stronger seating and cargo figures in CarsDirect’s 2026 US listing. Their quoted acceleration and maximum-speed figures are closely matched in Evo’s 2024 comparison, so the decision is less about a headline performance win and more about which engine, chassis character and everyday format suits the buyer. Treat the cited US prices and capacities as listing-specific, and verify the exact specification and current local terms before buying.
