The Ferrari LaFerrari is a 2013 hybrid flagship built around a V12 and Ferrari’s HY-KERS system. Ferrari’s published figures put the V12 at 800 hp and combined output at 963 hp. The company’s primary sources call the car “LaFerrari”; they do not confirm “F70” as an official model designation.
Is F70 the LaFerrari’s official name?
Ferrari’s official history identifies the 2013 car as LaFerrari, and the company’s 2015 and 2016 annual filings also use that name. Those sources do not establish F70 as Ferrari’s official designation, so it is best treated as a label associated with the title rather than a confirmed factory name. That conclusion is limited to the Ferrari sources cited here.
Ferrari describes LaFerrari as the first road car styled entirely in-house by its Ferrari Design Centre. In its 2015 filing, the company stated: “LaFerrari is the first Ferrari road car to have been entirely styled in house by Ferrari Design Centre.” Ferrari N.V.’s 2015 annual filing provides that description, while Ferrari’s model history records the car as a 2013 model.
Why is LaFerrari called a hybrid hypercar?
The hybrid system combines a 65-degree V12 with electric assistance through Ferrari’s HY-KERS system. Ferrari traced the system’s technology to the KERS work of its Scuderia Ferrari racing team. Its 2015 filing reports 800 hp from the V12 and 163 hp attributed to the battery/hybrid system, for 963 hp combined. These are Ferrari-published figures, not independent test results.

The reviewed Ferrari materials describe HY-KERS as an integrated performance system; they do not describe plug-in charging. On that evidence, LaFerrari is best characterized as a hybrid performance car, not a plug-in hybrid.
How limited was LaFerrari production?
Ferrari’s 2016 annual filing says the planned production run was 499 cars and that it was completed in 2016. The company also reported that a 500th car sold for $7 million at auction, with proceeds benefiting reconstruction after earthquakes in Central Italy. That was a specific historical charity-auction result—not a current market valuation or a guide to what another LaFerrari is worth.
