The LaFerrari is Ferrari’s 2013 hybrid flagship, pairing a V12 with a Formula 1-inspired energy-recovery system. Ferrari reported 963 hp combined and a planned production run of 499 cars, completed in 2016. Its original price was above €1 million; later auction results are individual transactions, not a fixed current price. The available sources establish its engineering and history, but do not provide independent road-test findings.
What is the Ferrari LaFerrari?
Introduced in 2013, LaFerrari was the first hybrid production flagship in Ferrari’s history. Ferrari’s account of its development connects the car’s KERS energy-recovery approach to technology transfer from Formula 1. The system is part of the car’s powertrain, rather than a claim that it can be driven as a standalone electric car. Ferrari’s model history and its history of the first hybrid describe that development context.
Ferrari LaFerrari specifications
Ferrari N.V.’s 2015 corporate filing reports a rear-wheel-drive layout, an 800 hp V12 and a hybrid system contributing 163 hp, for 963 hp combined. These are Ferrari’s stated figures; they should not be mixed with launch-era figures from other sources unless their units and measurement basis are made explicit.

Ferrari’s 2013 launch announcement describes a carbon-fiber chassis made using methods from its racing department, alongside coordinated active-aerodynamics and hybrid-control systems. Those are Ferrari’s descriptions of the car’s construction and design intent, not independent test findings. Ferrari’s Geneva launch announcement provides the manufacturer’s account.

Production: 499 planned cars and a charity exception
Ferrari’s stated standard production run was 499 cars, completed in 2016. The company also reported a 500th car sold at auction for $7 million to support reconstruction after the 2016 central Italy earthquakes. That special charity car is distinct from the planned 499-car run; it should not be used to describe the regular production allocation. Ferrari N.V.’s 2017 filing records the completion and charity sale.
How much did a Ferrari LaFerrari cost?
Ferrari N.V.’s 2015 filing puts the car’s historical sales price above €1 million. That is original-price context, not a current used-car quote. The sources do not establish a single present-day retail price: collector-market transactions vary by car and sale.

These are completed prices for two specific cars, not a directly comparable price range. A meaningful comparison needs to account for coupe versus Aperta, sale date and market, currency, fees and sale terms, mileage, condition, factory specification and originality, provenance, service and ownership records, and any warranty or maintenance coverage. Buyers should evaluate the individual car and its current documentation rather than treat a notable auction result as a guaranteed valuation.
Review: what the available evidence can establish
The documented picture is of a limited-production hybrid flagship with a carbon-fiber chassis, a V12 and an energy-recovery system informed by Ferrari’s Formula 1 development. Ferrari’s launch material also identifies active aerodynamics and integrated hybrid controls as elements of the design. These sources do not provide independent road-test measurements or driving impressions, so they cannot substantiate judgments about ride, visibility, comfort, braking, handling balance, everyday usability or ownership costs.
