Ferrari has revived the Testarossa name for the 849 Testarossa, a plug-in hybrid berlinetta that succeeds the SF90 Stradale. Ferrari rates its hybrid system at 1,050 cv—about 1,035–1,036 mechanical horsepower—so “1035hp” is a rounded conversion, not the figure Ferrari publishes.
What the new Testarossa is—and what it isn’t
The 849 Testarossa is a modern plug-in hybrid super sports car, not a mechanical remake of the 1980s Testarossa. Ferrari says the name first appeared on the 500 TR in 1956, referring to its red cam covers, and later became associated with one of the marque’s best-known road cars. Ferrari describes the 849 as the car that returns under that name to succeed the SF90 Stradale. Ferrari’s account of the name and model frames this as a revival of the name, not a continuation of the earlier car’s engineering.
How the plug-in hybrid powertrain works
Ferrari’s 2025 technical sheet lists a 3,990 cc twin-turbo V8 rated at 830 cv, working with a three-motor electric system for a total system output of 1,050 cv. The combined output is Ferrari’s stated system figure; it should not be read as the V8’s output alone. Ferrari lists a 7.45 kWh battery and a maximum eDrive range of 25 km for the coupe. That range is a manufacturer claim, not an independently measured real-world result. Ferrari’s coupe technical information gives the published powertrain figures.
Ferrari’s published performance figures
For the coupe, Ferrari claims 0–100 km/h in under 2.3 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 6.35 seconds and a maximum speed above 330 km/h. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. Ferrari also reports a Fiorano lap time of 1:17.500 for the coupe. The technical sheet is the source for these performance claims.

Ferrari publishes specifications for both body styles. The dry weights below include optional content, so they are not necessarily like-for-like weights for cars with different equipment.

The Fiorano times are Ferrari-reported results and provide a limited comparison on that circuit; they do not establish how the two versions compare in every driving condition. The Spider’s figures come from Ferrari’s Spider technical information.

What remains unconfirmed
Ferrari’s coupe and Spider technical sheets list fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions as “Under homologation,” so verified figures are not yet available in those documents. The authoritative material cited here also does not establish market-specific pricing, order availability or delivery timing. Buyers should confirm those details with Ferrari for their country rather than assume they are universal.
