A red Ferrari 296 GTB and a blue Ferrari F12berlinetta crashed in Osimo, in Italy’s Ancona province, shortly after 1 p.m. on March 4, 2023. Both cars left the road at a bend and hit a wall around a villa; the F12 caught fire. Gazzetta Motori reported no serious injuries and one person with non-serious injuries.
What happened in the Ferrari crash in Osimo?
Gazzetta Motori reported that the two Ferraris failed to make a bend, left the road and struck the wall surrounding a villa. The red 296 GTB was badly damaged, while the blue F12berlinetta caught fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze. Gazzetta Motori’s March 5, 2023 report describes the incident and its aftermath.
Other Italian outlets also reported that both cars hit a residential fence and that the F12 burned. Auto.it described the 296 as leaving the road first, followed by the F12; that is a reported sequence, not an official reconstruction. Auto.it’s March 6 report and Automoto.it’s March 4 report cover the crash.
What is known about the cause?
The reviewed coverage does not establish an official cause, measured speed, fault or legal finding. Gazzetta characterized the cars as going too fast for the bend. Auto.it called it an illegal race, while Automoto.it described a fast chase. Those are the outlets’ descriptions, not confirmed findings.
