What car did the FBI seize?
It was a 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR Roadster, the open-top version of Mercedes-Benz’s race-derived CLK-GTR. The model was built as a road-going counterpart to the CLK-GTR race car, rather than as an ordinary production sports car. Auto Motor und Sport and ERR both describe the Roadster as exceptionally rare.
What does the reported $13 million value mean?
The $13 million figure comes from an FBI statement attributed to FBI Los Angeles and reproduced in ERR’s November 25, 2025 report: “As part of the Giant Slalom investigative developments announced last week involving FBI Top Ten Fugitive, Ryan Wedding, and his associates, a rare 2002 Mercedes CLK-GTR valued at $13 million was seized by the FBI.” It is an estimate reported by the FBI, not evidence that the car sold for that amount. How rare is the CLK-GTR Roadster?
Published production counts for the Roadster conflict. Auto Motor und Sport reports five examples, while ERR reports six. Because the sources do not agree, the most accurate general description is that the seized car is one of a handful of Roadsters; either exact count should be attributed to its source rather than presented as settled fact.

How does the Roadster differ from the race car and Coupe?
The CLK-GTR name covers distinct versions, so production figures should not be mixed together. The race car was developed for competition; the Coupe and Roadster were road-going versions derived from that program. The seized vehicle is specifically a Roadster, not the race car or the Coupe. The disputed five-versus-six figure concerns Roadsters, not every CLK-GTR body style.
Who is Ryan Wedding, and what is the case status?
Wedding is a Canadian former Olympic snowboarder who was charged with allegedly running a transnational drug-trafficking operation. Those are allegations, not a conviction. The FBI announced his capture on January 23, 2026.
