According to PerthNow’s report, published 7 August 2022, the man was riding a Harley-Davidson along Safety Bay Road at about 2 a.m. when the motorcycle left the road and struck a power pole near Malibu Road. He sustained catastrophic injuries and died at the scene.
The report did not establish why the motorcycle left the road. It provides no basis for assigning blame or drawing conclusions about the cause.

PerthNow said the Safety Bay death brought the weekend’s WA road toll to four. Its roundup also recounted fatal crashes in Kondinin, O’Connor and Green Valley, as well as a serious crash in Nannup. Road death figures cited in the 2022 report
PerthNow gave a figure of 80 WA road fatalities as of Friday, 5 August 2022, and reported annual totals of 166 deaths in 2021, 155 in 2020 and 164 in 2019. Those figures are presented here as the publication reported them; independent corroboration from an underlying official statistical release is not established.
The road-safety reminder in the report
In the context of wet weather across the state that week, Road Safety Commissioner Adrian Warner said: “Given the wet weather we have had across the State this week, it’s timely for me to remind people to drive to the conditions to make every journey safe.” PerthNow also reported that Warner expressed condolences to the people close to those killed.
